Build a track! So what happens when one of these punks kills himself or somebody else, i'll tell you what happens... their families will SUE the town/city that built the track. And don't forget the memorial telephone pole that will need to be erected so flowers and lit candles can placed after the loser is BURIED.

Leave them alone. If that is what they like to do then I guess you all have a boring life. If hat is their hobby then you should mind your business. I used to go to watch them race, but we always got chased away from cops. Well, if they build them a racetrack, then they won't be any problems for anyone else on the streets. They will go to one place only and everyone will be happy.

Instead of wasting the $75,000 to try to stop the racing, why don't they use that money to build a legal race track where its supervised and much safer. Let's face it,we all know the police can keep chasing the racers but they'll just find somewhere else to go.

Give me a break!!!! Using a $75,000 to stop kids from having a bit of fun without drugs and drinking.
Why not spend the money on cracking down on street level drug dealers or home invasion that kill people all the time.
Sure street racing can kill but not far as much as drugs.

I think that street racing should stop because people are getting hurt.

The majority of posters here say build a track. Of course that would make sense. We had one in Colchester, but the busybody neighbors, who moved in knowing there was a track there, managed to get it shut down. Others states have tracks, and don't have the problems CT has on the street. I have a house in upstate NY, and there are sevral tracks within driving distance. Unfortunately, CT has an overpoplulation of greedy lawyers, and wacko enviromentalists who are opposed to any kind of fun. I highly doubt that a new track in CT could be built, do to the ridiculous enviromental hurdles, and an out of control state government. CT is a no fun allowed state.

TIM, Byte the Bit! You are totally unaware of the mystique involved with racing! NO drugs can reach this level of High!

Maybe this state could set up some sort of sanctioned venue with that 75k grant instead of pittling it away on trying to stop something they will never be able to.

There IS a track in Connecticut already, and a very good one.
But there are safety standards, and most people don't want to bother with such things.

Why not make a race track here in connecticut so that the kids can go race there, where they are safe and not going to hurt anyone.

Actually, they would then be endangering their own lives and who ever is in the way on the track. Even professional racers have fatal crashes.

that would be totally against everything our constitution stands for! As other posters have stated, and as a car enthusiast who used to race on the Berlin Turnpike when I was a kid myself, instead of wasting money trying to stop something that will not be stopped, build a 1/4 mile race track and provide people with a legal, controlled and safe environment where they can enjoy their hobby. Then you can take that 75g's and use it to help curb real crime, like murders, drug markets, child abuse and sex offenders. Build the track and the problem will go away. Right now, the current policy is turning good people into bad people.

Apparently you have never raced on a track. You have to sign a wavier releasing the track of any responsibility if anything happens to you, because racing IS a dangerous activity. As long as the track is operated responsibly, it would be maintained and be required to meet local and federal safety standards. And why are people who enjoy racing for a hobby punks and losers? Only an ignorant person would make a comment like that. I'm a former United States Marine thats served over seas, a current full time student who makes deans list and I like to race. I am most definitely not a punk or a loser. Unfortunately, I can't race around here because there is no safe place where I can enjoy my hobby. Building a 1/4 mile strip will get the racers off the roads and on the race track where they belong.

then we should close every place in the country that offers sky diving because your shoot might not open and you'll die when you hit the ground. And we need to close down all the rock climbing places too, because someone might fall from a cliff and crack their skull open. Like many others, racing is a dangerous sport and thats part of the attraction for some people. You shouldn't hate on something just because it's not something that you yourself participate it and/or understand (not necessarily directed at the replied post, but to all the others who are making ignorant comments).

Very good point. Why don't all of you punks pool your money and build a drag strip. But then again, I can see how you all wouldn't have much money left after stupidly tricking out your ricers. These vehicles look rediculous. Maybe one day you'll look back and realize how retarted you look driving around with nowhere to go blasting out that annoying noise you call "music".

I have to admit, I'm quite fond of the 50 horsepower sticker kit. OH! And and the gigantic wings installed on the tails of your "fast" cars to hold them to the road. Please. Gimmie a break. You look like fools and you're going to kill an innocent person. Find another hobby losers!
