Wake up call East Haddam. Increase the Dare program to the 7th and 8th graders even through high school. Also the East Haddam Resident Troopers have to gain a better relation ship with the residents themselves. Build relationships with the people and the teenagers. Instead of the feeling the police are just out to get everyone. Let me tell you that is the feeling about the Resident Troopers currently. They have the power to change it. It will benefit everyone if they build relationships with the residents and act as if the care about folks. Give it a try it may work. The police should be people we can trust. Good Day!

God Bless the Bauer family during this difficult time. People don't judge. It has to be extremely difficult to have a child on herione. If he was an addict this robbery would have never happened. GET NICK THE HELP HE NEEDS!

I agree, Nick needs help. It is a shame things got as out of control as they did. But, you can save your pity party for people who do not know his parents. They are LOUSY parents and could have intervened much much sooner, but didn't. They are too busy with their friends and boozing it up. Nick was headed for trouble 10 years ago and they never showed him consequences and this is why he is the way he is. I just hope the younger ones will be OK. I hate to see ANYONE get messed up with drugs, especially Heroin.

If they hadn't let him go wild in the first place he probably would not be where he is today. I said it once and I will say it again, they are LOUSY parents. Always off with their friends and /or drunk at the Sportsmens Club. Those kids have been wild for years. Just ask any of their neighbors.

I graduated Nathan Hale Ray over 20 years ago. There was Pot and drugs going on then. It hasn't changed much. It's just spoke of more in todays society. The town has gotten much bigger over the years. More houses a new school. This kid may be on the wrong path. What I don't understand is... If his behavior was so bad why didn't anyone speak up before this incident happened. You saw the kid was in touble, yet you stayed silent. Now the kid has gotten in trouble and your blaming the parents. I don't want to hear it's not my place to get involved. IT'S EVERYONES place to get involved. Neighbors, School mates, School teachers, relatives, friends. Why must everyone ignore a situation and then be the first one to throw blame? Nick You did something extremely wrong. I hope now you get the help that you need. I hope the rest of you people wake up and start paying attention to people that may need help! Especially our young teens.

It is the parents responsibility, not mine or anyone elses. However, I do know they are spoken to about Nicks behavior over the years and ignored the warning bells and red flags. Anyone in their neighborhood will confirm this.

You must be a Hillary Clinton supporter. She thinks it takes a village too. Of course you're both wrong, It's the parents responsibility, they had him, we didn't.
