I am laughing soo hard..I grew up in Waterbury..the schools suck, corrupt officials are plenty, dirty streets, home values stink, taxes are way too high..what else????
Politicans spent retirement funds, messed up city finances and needed State oversight , hired Rowland, and this ranks them anywhere on that list?
I guess they were right when scientists said that drugs are stronger today than 20 years ago...

If Waterbury is a great place to raise a family, exactly how do you explain to your kids what Mayor Giordano was doing in his office with those little girls? What do you say when they ask why Governor Rowland didn't get any real time for being tossed out of office? And how he now works for the City? How do you explain to them that despite Mayor Santopietro ALSO being sent to prison, that not ALL public officials end up there? How do you tell them that the police were really trying to find Billy Smolinski when they lost DNA twice, ignored a Crime-Stopper tip that in the end was very credible, and barely questioned the two other people involved in a nasty love-triangle that certainly seemed to be in a position to know what happened to him? The city is a joke and John Rowland working there to try to improve the CITY's reputation is proof!

I too would like to know where these great schools are? My daughter goes to one of these great schools. Where she has to wear a sweatshirt everyday in the winter because the heating system does not work right. AND the cooling system is even worse in the warmer months! I could go on and on! I guess I would like to know how bad the rest of the American cities are, that Waterbury could be voted in the Top 50??!

Ah, yes, Waterbury. The place where my ex-husband used to sneak his battleax of a mother's car to go pick up hookers! Every time I used to drive by on that "Mixmaster" I used to think of that!Really nice visuals... And the Mixmaster?? A guy from the state DOT refused to drive over it way back in 1985!!'Because it wasn't safe', he said. I wonder what condition it's in by now... Best place to raise kids??? ARE YOU MAD???

i lived in wtby for 30 years and moved when i had my own home.My son was mugged 2 times in Town Plot.We saw what was coming. Our children are now 27,22,and 20. We moved to Cape Cod Ma. The schools were awesome until high school. We were a little disapointed but 20x better than Waterbury. They were 10,12,and 16.It is so laid back here and they really do not have anything for the teens to do.Whenever i miss Wtby I go for a few days and I realized I miss the people I grew up with and distant family not the place. Now as we have all of them in college and my husband and myself also decided yo further our education here and see where we go from here..I sleep with my door unlocked and I live near downtown Hyannis. But I would have not wanted to live there for my first 33 years. If the only family we had were still hrer,my parents,we might still be there.About the magazine I think they need to do more research!!!!!!!!!!

Best place to raise a family? Yeah, judging from the awesome exhibit of humans trudging through the halls of the Brass Mill Mall. You will also find people buying hookers in that giant parking lot at any time of day (one stop shopping). And forget about obeying traffic signals... left turn on red is common practice there. The next "Grand Theft Auto" video game should be set in Waterbury... you've got the hookers, crackheads, scandals, corrupted officials and psycho drivers to fit the boot.

Must have been paid off by Rowland's secret source of dough.
Crime is always the big issue and much of it is the result of the FBI framing Giordano so that Jarjura could promote O'Leary so that Regan could be framed. Wolf is the SA who put two guys he knew were innocent in jail for life so that Animal Barboza could drop a dime. And that's exactly how crime filters down from the top.

The city is a joke and John Rowland working there to try to improve the CITY's reputation is proof! AS I stated in nearby post before reading this (sorry) Giordano was framed by FBI so that Jarjura could promote O'Leary in order to frame Regan. People need to look much closer at the whole Rowland scandal. How come the jet company got no penalty and Tomasso was indicted? Does anyone really know where to find the real link behind the Edulink money? Try Paul Allen, Nelson Rockefeller, Jr., Kevin Oakes, and others associated with Space Island. The Edulink money was a payoff pure and simple, but follow the money, just like Deep Throat told Woodard and Bernstein, and you will find some amazing and scary stuff. It is a very tedious trail to follow. You have to go through a zillion SEC filings, DOJ docs, and much, much more, but it's all there. Rowland was bribed because he didn't really back embryonic stem cell research (ESCR) as much as he agreed to when he first ran for governor. See the articles in the 1998 NYT about the outrageous campaign contributions Rowland received from people associated with the jet company. First time contributors no one had ever even heard of. That money came from Loeb and Sun Cap and others who had invested heaviliy in ESCR and when Rowland didn't deliver, he was tossed overboard. Rowland was suckered into those free flights, took the bait, and that was the end of him. That's why nothing happened to the jet company, which, by the way, has some amazingly close ties to USAF. Not a conspricy theory. One backed up with over 1000 pages of govt docs. 4000 plus hours of research. Rowland's corruption was only the surface.

For the crooked, scammers, cronies, molesters, it happens to be a great place to live..its a haven for criminals..our very own Australia.Lovely. oh yeah, dont forget a great place for the teachers..among the country and the states highest paid..must be the reward for the great school system...

Did these fools actually visit Waterbury, or was this report bought by more corrupt politicians.I see Waterbury hired another convicted convict[John Rowland].what a joke to see that **** on tv commercials promoting the **** of waterbury.THe last 11 years i worked in Waterbury, and i saw everything,it was like a Fox Reality tv show day and night.I no longer work in waterbury and its such a blessing. All you see is garbage everywhere.Once I saw a grandmother showing her little granddaughter to throw garbage down a storm drain.

If its real family values then I'd opt to live elsewhere. Ok granted I don't live in Waterbury anymore, but I was born and raised there.. I agree I wouldn't bring my children up there, or even attempt to even think of moving back there.. but not all of the families there raise gang bangers, prostitutes, and crack heads..
