The Interior Department declared the polar bear a threatened species Wednesday, saying it must be protected because of the decline in Arctic sea ice from global warming.

The polar bear population has actually doubled. Go to the internet and do some research. Don't just believe everything you are told. The temperature is actually cooling. Please don't be so gullible and believe all this "global warming" scare tactics. The earth has been having "ice ages"-cooling cycles and warming cycles ever since the "Good Lord" created it.

I can't believe that John McCain and George Bush are signing on to this. Well, why should I be surprised-the Republicans are acting more like Democrats every day. They have been spending like Democrats for 8 years. Take from those of us who work for a living and give to those who sit on their behinds.

This "global warming" scam is happening for two reasons. One, you have a vested interest group who wants to separate us from our money and give it to "poor, developing countries." They want to denigrate the United States instead of being proud to be Americans. Two, they are such egoist they think everything has to be somehow connected to humans.

You can't tell a bit of difference (hardly) in the way a Democrat or a Republican acts-votes-believes anymore. They are like a bunch of teenagers--follow the crowd. The Republicans need to get back to their roots--Less Taxes; Less Government; More Personal Responsibility, etc.

Sorry dear, but there is a greater amount of ice metling at both of th epoles than ever before, so I do not know wehre you are getting your "data" Your slant is clear on this, that you will avoid facing some hard truths about the impact of our (human beings) activites on the rest of the planet, just so that you can continue your lifestyle. Well, I for one, am happy that these animals are protected now. Their status will also prtect many other artic species.
Do you really want to leave your grandchildren a world without polar bears? What will you say to them?? If there is a slight chance that we are doing something ot harm them, wouldn't you want to at least try to stop it?

Sorry dear (that was very condiescending of you), you know nothing about me and my lifestyle. I firmly believe the first job God gave mankind was be gardeners. He intends for this world to better when we are gone than it was before we got here. We are to be good stewards of the earth and the fruits of the earth. We are to be good neighbors to our fellow men. Having said that it does not mean I have to swallow hook, line, and sinker every liberal, feel-good idea that comes along.

I suspect I live closer to nature than you do since our home is in a rural area populated with birds (that I feed), deer, turkeys, foxes, raccoons, etc. We take good care of our "little corner of this beautiful world."

Sorry dear, did you not read and comprehend what I wrote about cooling cycles and warming cycles? Even your liberal scienctists are saying we will probably have "10 years of cooling and then global warming will really set in." They, of course, said that after it was shown we were in a cooling cycle. They couldn't admit they were wrong so they had to come up with an alternate explanation.

Have you noticed that there are very good scientist on both sides of this issue? Some folks I have a lot more trust in that Al "I invented the internet" Gore.

By the way, one of the neatest thing I have seen lately was a mother black bear and a set of half grown cubs crossing the highway in the Ocala National Forest recently. Made me feel good all over.

Tallahassee, FL - Yes,. Dearie, I did read your post in its entirity and I disagree. As far as my lifestyle goes, my yard has been an NWF certified wildlife habitat for 15 years, and I live a mile from downtown Jacksonville. We recently purchased some old tree farm acerage and are restoring it back to a natural landscape. I have not used any sort of chemicals on my land in years. What you seem to refuse to acknowledge is what I wrote that our human acitivty is having an impact on the planet. Perhaps global warming is too much for you to wrap your mind around. Perhaps, to make it easier for you, they should call it global climate change. And as far as it being normal, yes, a certain amount is. As species have evolved over the millenia, climate change was a huge impetus. The issue is that our activity has thrown the climate cycle into an accelerated (that measn faster) cycle. Clearly the increase in polluted air has had some impact on the natural cycle.

Now you can call me condescending, dearie!

I am glad you at least have the grace to admit you are a condescending liberal who treats anyone who disagrees with you as an uneducate buffoon. I disagree with you and I also feel sorry for your lack of insight and common sense...and I am through playing word games with you.

Oh, you have no idea what a liberal I am, too! I don't think you are an uneducated buffoon! I appluad you for doing what you can for those bears. I think it is a great idea. I do wish that you would re-examine the facts from a neutral POV and not just consider the narrow conservative view, and not just listen to what the right wing pundits wnat you to believe.

I think we could actually be friends. I bet we have alot more in common than you think. I am sorry if you thought I was being condescending in my first post. I was being so in my second, and for that I beg your forgiveness. So, where's my bowl of milk. I apologise for being so catty, but I do have seven of them, and they rub off on you, you know.

Please try to to have a fine evening! Enjoy those bears for me!

as their populations are INCREASING, why is there a possibility of there being no bears left? I think the species that will be extinct is the "Lesser trendy hippy poof", as his diet of stupid scams and dire forecasts will gradually vanish.
Also, I don't really care if bears are there or not. Do they care about you?

don't they also go brown if left in a warmer climate? I am surprised that the Warmists haven't insisted on black people all staying in Africa - after all it's their "natural habitat". I wonder why they think it OK for us to move about and not the animals?

The "fact" that populations are increasing applies to only two popultaion groups. See this link.

http://environment.newscientist.com/channel/e...

The real fact is that they are declining and need protection. And since the top predator is protected, it also protects many of the other animals as well. NWF just released reports that biodiversity is declining in this world. As that goes, so does the ability to adapt to changes and the possibility to find useful plants and animals.

Poor stupid and helpless mother nature eh? So what is more likely to change the temperature of the planet, the sun, nature, the unknown or HUMANS?
GlowBUL Whining is just silly new age culture fear, nothing else.
25 years of the theory proves it I’m right but if you like misery so much, have fun with it. Just don't ask the rest of us to pay for the global warminger’s self-gratifying do-gooding.

Go ahead, stick your head in the sand and kee repeating...I do beleive that nothing is happening...I am sure that you will be just fine. You also might ask for a medication adjustment.

Here's another articel abdout the loss of biodiversity's effect on the world's economy. Maybe by appealing to the money issue, it might make you pay attention.
