FCN isn't well known for providing much detail, but it does sound like suicide.
Unfortunately the coward took out other innocent people instead of just shooting himself in the privacy of his own home.

He was a sugar diabetic and and a sugar low at the time. It was an ACCIDENT. He was a kind and sweet man who would do anything for the people he knew and loved, if he wanted to take his own life he never would have done it in any way that would cause harm to another person. You should all be ashamed of yourselves, how would you feel if this was your close friend or family member and people were saying these horrible things about them?

last i heard..a diabetic fit doesnt cause you to pull your vehicle into the median...turn it around facing traffic..wait for traffic and then to gun the motor head on into oncoming traffic..sorry..not buying it...too bad he murdered an innocent person and forever changed other innocent lives.

I don't think he turned the truck around in the median and then gunned it. He lived off the island and was coming towards town. Appears he pulled over, stopped, and then took off into the oncoming traffic. Hope we know something soon as to why it happened. I was there with a large crowd that watched the vehicle explode into flames. There was nothing the first people on the the scene could do. It was the worst thing I've ever seen and know it will forever remain etched in that crowd's memories.

FERNANDINA BEACH, Fla. -- Two people were killed and four others injured Wednesday in a four-vehicle wreck just south of Fernandina Beach that Florida Highway Patrol investigators said may have been intentional.

What a horrible shame. My daughter told me about the accident, she passed the investigation/clean up on her bus ride home from school.
I hope there are some answers for the victims. My prayers go out to the victims and their families. Be careful out there folks.

Hi Scott1...a person with diabetes can become disoriented and confused when their glucose level is low. They can drive erractically and do strange things, also they will have no clear memory of what happened. Hopefully, the investigation will reveal if it was intentional or not.

You don't know him and you don't know anything about the situation. You know only what you're hearing from the news and last I knew, the news wasn't the most accurate. God forbid this were your father, brother, or husband and everyone was trashing him when they don't know the whole story. I pray that none of his family comes on here and sees any of this because as his friend I am disturbed by how heartless you all are.

You are exactly right! His wife commented on how when his sugar is low he DID get disoriented. People need to see the whole picture before stating that he is a murderer.

if he knows his sugar gets that low..and his family does as well..and if he was having siezures lately..then he SHOULD NOT have been driving! period! so yes, he is still the one at fault if that is the case! its a shame he died..but its even more a shame that he killed an innocent person....

It is a tragic tragic thing that his accident caused not only his death but the death of that innocent man, I'm not questioning that at all. But everyone's heartless comments are not needed on such a tragic subject. THAT was my point.

I'm diabetic and I've never laid in wait, then floored the pedal to the metal and smashed into 3 cars driving the wrong way on a busy road. I have pushed my limits and gone past the point where I should have taken care of my sugar level, but nope-never forgot how to drive.
If he had a medical condition so severe that he lost cognitive ability, he should have surrendered his driver's license.

That is great that YOU have never done that. You don't know him or what really happened so don't judge him. From what I heard there was also a UFO above him too and since that's what someone said then OF COURSE it's true.

It must be hard to deal with the death of a close friend, especially if the circumstances are out of character for that person, but face it, people do things we dont expect all the time and I have never seen or heard of a diabetic with low sugar killing someone on purpose, which he clearly did. Will this be the next defense for murder? I am so tired of hearing how people drive head on into vehicles to commit suicide...try a TREE, it doesnt have a family!

You might just be correct on this one. My sister works right in front of this crash and she said he definatly did this on purpose! I feel sad for the family of the victims.
