I have 'escorted' more than one person into the 'next life' that you appear not to believe in; If you ever do that, you may change your mind
What do you mean by escorted? Are you telling me you "crossed over" and came back? I had a dog that I loved very much, I want to believe he is in a happy place too, but the truth is he is just plain gone. Same thing for humans only we refuse to believe we are not in some way special in this regard. Maybe telling yourself fairy tales helps you cope with death being final, but science does not agree and using the bible as a reference is like using comic books to support the story of superman.

'escorted': at someone's bedside as they passed and in the days before they passed; the things they say, the things they want, the things they do...there is just no way that there is no afterlife

What do they say? What do they want? What do they do? that makes you think there is an afterlife?

Not sure I want to share the specifics of what was said and done, as those are some very private, personal memories for me; Hope you understand; I will think about whether I want to share some of those things here, k?

But I will share that, the things said, and done, are referenced in the Bible, to the extent, that you would leave you no legitimate arguement not to believe

I find it sad that some people do not believe in an Afterlife.

Even if there isn't one (and I am fiercely sure there is) where is the harm in believing that there is an Afterlife?

If believing in something outside of what you can see, feel, hear, touch or smell; something outside of yourself, gives you some comfort and peace, why is that such a bad thing?

If one chooses not to believe, why decry others who do? Are we such an oddity to the unbelievers that needs to be stared at or reviled?

"For me, it is far better to grasp the Universe as it really is than to persist in delusion, however satisfying and reassuring." -Carl Sagan

The biggest problem I have with believing there is an afterlife is that you may not wish to accomplish all you could in this life. The second biggest problem I have is that it is just an irrational thought that ultimately holds back mankind from reaching it's full potential. Just as religion has done for thousands of years.

It IS sad that I don't believe in an afterlife. It's downright depressing to think at some point I'll just be totally, completely gone. I wish I could believe, just for the comfort and peace. But you cannot simply make yourself believe. It has to come from your heart, your mind, and your gut. Every fiber of my being tells me no god exists and the best I can do to live forever is do some good while I'm alive.

I find it vaguely humorous that you do not beleive in God, but "the best you can do to live forever is do some good while I'm alive"

Why? If there is no God, what would be the point of doing Good or Evil for that matter?

Do you not realize that just by "doing some good while you are alive," you ARE, by definition, living God's message? You may not have all the particulars down, the methods or the "belief system" involved with any of that, but you have the basic message down pat.

To my mind, that is prima facie evidence that God Exist; that you may not beleive in Him, but he continues to believe in you.

Okay, this might be weird, but can I be a Christian Atheist? I've always believed in most of Christ's messages, but I just don't believe in a god hanging over my head to make me behave. I don't need the threat of eternal damnation to force me into being generous and tolerant.(A very, very religious friend of mine once commented how it just blows her mind that I'm an atheist because I live a Christian life better than most Christians.)

Living a life where I care about other people, animals, the environment, etc. is just the right thing to do. People who do these things just to appease God and their church are missing the whole point. I sometimes wonder if some people aren't so focused on God that they forget to see man.

Maybe not believing gives me a freedom believers don't have. Maybe I'm better off going to the nursing home on Sunday morning instead of the church. Maybe not tithing gives me more money to donate to charity. Maybe not having to hold myself accountable to God makes me more accountable to myself and the rest of the human race.

And maybe I'm getting way too deep for a Monday morning...

The Kingdom of God is within you.

"Split a piece of wood and I am there. Lift a stone and you shall find me,"

The Gospel of St. Thomas

As I grow older, I find it more and more fulfilling to get out and about, living the message of Christ, rather than just finding it at Mass.

That is why I volunteer and that is why I try, though many times fail, to be a better person, not just for me, but for those around me.

You are probalby on the right track getting down to the nursing home. Walking the talk is always preferable to just talking the talk.

SHALL WE HIRE A MONUMENT ENGRAVER TO GO TO ARLINGTON NATIONAL CEMETERY AND ADD THE MISSING WORDS ?

A MESSAGE FROM AN APPALLED OBSERVER:

Today I went to visit the new World War II Memorial in Washington , DC . I got an unexpected history lesson. Because I'm a baby boomer, I was one of the youngest in the crowd. Most were the age of my parents, Veterans of 'the greatest war,' with their families. It was a beautiful day, and people were smiling and happy to be
there. Hundreds of us milled around the memorial, reading the inspiring words of Eisenhower and Truman that are engraved there. On the Pacific side of the memorial, a group of us gathered to read the words President Roosevelt used to announce the attack on Pearl Harbor:
Yesterday, December 7, 1941-- a date which will live in infamy--the United States of America was suddenly and deliberately attacked. One elderly woman read the words aloud:
'With confidence in our armed forces, with the abounding determination of our people, we will gain the inevitable triumph.'

But as she read, she was suddenly turned angry.'Wait a minute,' she said,'they left out the end of the quote.. They left out the most important part. Roosevelt ended the message with 'so help us God.'

Her husband said,'You are probably right. We're not supposed to say things like that now.'
'I know I'm right,' she insisted.'I remember the
speech.' The two looked dismayed, shook their heads sadly and walked away. Listening to their conversation, I thought to myself, Well, it has been over 50 years she's probably forgotten.'

But she had not forgotten. She was right. I went home and pulled out the book my book club is reading ---'Flags of Our Fathers' by James Bradley. It's all about the battle at Iwo Jima .
I haven't gotten too far in the book. It's tough to read because it's a graphic description of the WWII battles in the Pacific. But right there it was on page 58. Roosevelt 's speech to the nation ends in 'so help us God.'
The people who edited out that part of the speech when they engraved it on the memorial could have fooled me. I was born after the war.! But they couldn't fool the people who were there. Roosevelt 's words are engraved on their hearts.
Now I ask:'WHO GAVE THEM THE RIGHT TO CHANGE THE WORDS OF HISTORY?????????'
Send this around to your friends. People need to know before everyone forgets. People today are trying to change the history of America by leaving God out of it, but the truth is, God has been a part of this nation, since the beginning. He still wants to be...and He always will be!

You dont have a clue at all , you have been so brainwashed with false teachings that you wouldnt know the truth if it hit you in the face .

The Kingdom of God is in Heaven , Where he sits on his thrown. The Holy Spirit resides in you once you accept Jesus Christ as your savoir but you. This is the ONLY WAY you will get into the Kingdom of Heaven.

You cannot pray to your false gods as you do, when you do your prayers are not even heard let allone answered. The Bible Commands you to pray directly to Him .

Also you better realize soon your works will NOT get you into Heaven.

You dont even have a clue about anything of it , you are just one of the blinded that believe what they are taught through many years of things being past down . They are in violation of Gods word, You claim you follow it yet how can you when the thinkgs you are taught break the word of God ??

So Hence the term Cult BOY . As you nothing more then a person who is following a cult that claims its a religion , and makes false claims that its the oldest which it is NOT. SO anyhow , I know this is really hard for you but Please try and when you say something atleast try and speak the truth .

Well this person obviously doesnt know what they are talking about ! As neither do you ! A true Christian not only lives there lives for Christ but they also go and spread the Gospel of Jesus Christ trying to win souls to Christ as commanded in God's word. A true Christian has a personal relationship with Christ Jesus. This is a true Christian .

So hence you are wrong again!
