I wish I could have said it better, but you are right. Kudos to the Department for taking this up and taking real action.

You suppose the thug might have provoked the officer?

What a stupid comment. Police are only human too? A police officer has a duty to protect and serve the public, not serve them with a slam against the wall. If you cannot handle your anger then maybe a career in law enforcement isn't for you.

Due to this cops temper, we taxpayers will pay in the end when this youths parents sue the County.

This is nothing new. Typical pigs in uniforms that are abusing the community. Good thing this was caught on tape otherwise it would have gone away like so many ohter abuse.

You know, I totally agree, but you will have corrupt people in every profession. It has been going on for yrs & will continue. Im not saying that all are like that, just some. Plus he is getting punished for his temper & reassigned. Im just happy that they caught this rotten cop before he actually killed somebody!

I agree. Cops think they have more control over everyone else. So they use it to their advantage sometimes. Every once and a while they get caught doing it too. And this happens to be one of those times. I hope he learns his lesson on being a tough guy in uniform. And just maybe he will set an example on those rotten cops that haven't got caught yet.

Agreed 100% There are always good and bad Officers...it just takes awhile to weed out the bad ones. In fact, tonight on my drive home from work a Police Officer flew past me going about 90...if he had his lights on I could understand...but he didn't! He was just in a hurry to go someplace...

Well soon as i seen the article i knew it had to be caught on video... Like one other comment said, it would have just went away... Officers should be held to a higher standard than just us normal people. Why wasnt he fired on the spot and charged with assult on a minor??? I hope his parents sue the city of Kalamazoo, the police department and the cowardly cop who likes to beat up children.. Watch out cops, Your on camera!

hey jody , I totally agree with you . there are good and bad cops. and the bad ones need to be weeded out, and kick off the force. Thats not an good example on being a cop and it makes the other ones look bad, as far as the kid goes, he doesn't deserved to be treated like that, and he is a kid, how would people like it if their kids was treated like that if they got arrested. There is right and worng for everyone including cops. And I hope the family does sue . Glad they got it on tape, if they didn't , they would believe the officer. He should lose his job . he is not a good example for the good officer. god bless the good one, there is always a bad apple in the piple some where, and he is the rotton one.

I think a lot of people are jumping in with the assumption that this is a "rotten" cop. What BS folks. Yes he shouldn't have gotten out of control of himself however if any of you work with this particular group of people in society you know they push, not an excuse just saying.

Think of the thousands of similar incidents over the years (throughout the US) which were not caught on video... and no one believed the victim.

Years ago, I was involved in an auto accident. The driver had been drinking. I received a closed head injury and collapsed lung. Disoriented and having difficulty breathing, the police ASSUMED I had been drinking also and was being uncooperative. I was laid across the rear floor of the cruiser and beaten from my calves to upper back. Then to jail... then to the hospital... 2 hours later. Charge of resisting dropped, but no reprimand for the officers and no civil suit as all attorneys told me it was their word against mine.

Working with some of your philosophies - read the rest of the news:'Winky' Thompson; typical woman, a revengeful, heartless killer. Dump truck driver on I-94; typical hardworking truck driver, always running over innocent folks. Jeremiah Wright; **** man, always angry and not productive.
Come on, you ignorant posters. Make your argument about the person and their actions. It's horribly dishonest and unfair to paint an entire group based on one person. For instance, I don't think most of you are mental midgets because "Eat Bacon" is (who no doubt faces overwhelming police harassment in Martin!)

Where is the kid's parents. They should be disciplining that child for getting into that position in the first place. And if he had priors then he should be so grounded. I know I would have had my butt kicked if I got arrested. I have a hunch that the parents do not care about the boy but want money from the City.

I am sick and tired of UNIONS

Especially UNIONS for government employees....

Like the Unions in factories....all they do is "protect" the jobs of pond scum and deadbeats.

Plenty of good people need jobs and the UNIONS stand in their way!(Ditto for the MEA and their "Tenures"!)
