Considering this crime and the multitude of other office shootings in our recent history, should we be installing metal detectors and security staffs in offices to protect workers from this kind of premedatated violence?

I understand what you are ssying, and I dont know what the answer is. I would think adding metal detectors and security staff would be cost prohibitive for many companies. Besides, I don't know if I would like to live in a police state. It is a very scary world these days.

Man, this just sucks that a young man with a young family is killed by that worthless old man. My heart goes out to Troy's family for their deep loss. Hug your kids and kiss your wife everyday with nut jobs like this walking around.

Take this old fool out in the woods, shoot him in the head and leave him for the animals.

That would only be an act of kindness to this ****. I is already suicidal so this would only be a favor to him. He should suffer here on earth as much as possible just as a warm up for his after life. And then, even after all this, he still would not know the pain that the community is currently enduring from the loss of Troy.

I am Troy Vanderstelts sister in law. His wife Bridget is my sister. We are all still shocked and hurting from this loss. Troy leaves behind 2 amazing stepchildren, Lainey and Matthew and his two biological children Corbin and Ava are the spitting image of him. While being around these children the pain and hurt radiates from them. It tugs at my heart, but as an aunt I can only do so much, for their pain is far greater than mine. Bridget is so strong and Troys family are such amazing people that I know they will all continue to be strong for Troy's sake. That is what he would have wanted. Any thoughts and prayers are welcomed and come greatly appreciated. Mr.Robert Johnson should not be the one remembered for all of this... Troy should be. I please ask any of you that speak about this tragedy to not focus on the tragedy itself, but to speak of the celebration of Troy's life. Justice will not be served here on earth, but the memory of Troy VanderStelt forever will be.

Troy will not be forgotten. He was a well rounded/respectable guy that many people will forever miss. I am incredibly sorry and saddened for your loss. My thoughts and prayers go out to you and his entire family.

It will not work. The attitude that human life is not worth much has to be changed.

I am a Realtor here in NW Indiana, and it sad that someone would do something so cruel. I always thought Real Estate agents were pretty safe, I suppose any profession can be dangerous.
My condolences to the family and friends of Troy, and hopefully this murderer can be brought to justice.

I just pray that he doesn't get some slick lawyer and a bunch of idiot jurors and get out sometime. This loony should never walk the streets again.
