I think that this judge showed some true leadership by placing the mayor in jail. He specifically pointed out in his judgment that if this would have been anyone else, he would have done the same thing. To many times “celebrities” have been granted to many chances and have not been held responsible for their actions. I am sure he will come back and claim it was all because he was black, but I don’t think that the race card will work for this gut anymore. He has made mistake after mistake, and yet our governor wants to wait to hold hearings on him. Could it be due to party affiliation? I don’t live in Detroit, so I probably only know half the story, but it is clear that he broke the law by going to Canada. Like the judge said, if it would have been anybody else, they would be in jail as well.

Nice job Rush, only Rush could spin the Gov. denying Kwame an adjournment into her delaying the hearings. She scheduled a hearing in early September on an issue she just got I believe in June. She set up a relatively short briefing schedule. Then Kwame asked for an adjournment and she denied it. Only by a true GOP hack could that be spun into a delay by the Gov. Take another oxcycontin Rush and let the LSD wear off.

Sorry little peter, but you know damn well if he had been a Republican, it would have never gotten this far. If you deny that, then you must still be high from last night.

Let me run off the list of disgraced GOP guys that have left office recently, Craig, Vitter, Stevens. Oh, that's right they are still in the Senate.

Kwame is a disgrace. He should have quit. I believe that it was not until May or June that the Detroit City Counsel asked Granholm to remove him. She set up a procedure that was to be concluded in about 90 days. That is pretty quick for removing someone from office. Keep in mind that all of this only came to light early this year when the text messagees were published in a Detroit paper.

Don't forget that a few years ago your boy Cox had a shot at Kwame. You know Cox, the disgraced family values MI AG. He believes in that new GOP virtue that a little on the side at the office is not inconsistent with family values. That's right he is another disgraced GOP still in office. Anyway he investigated the "rumors" about the party at the Manoogian Mansion and gave Kwame a pass. The MSP troopers involved complained that Cox cut off the investigation early. It was also rumored at the time that Kwame knew more about Cox's sex life than Cox knew about Kwame's so Cox backed off.

Is Rush still on the air? Was he ever convicted on that Oxycontin thing? That's right he took the first offender program as I recall and kept his job behind the golden mike.

Actually little peter, I never said he should step down. I said that they should hold the hearings before he can sell enough drugs to afford Johnny Cochran. You sure are getting your liberal panties in a bunch over this.

My liberal tightie whities are in a bunch about the hypocrisy of spinning what Granholm has done so far into something it isn't when the GOP has done nothing to clean up it's own house. Everyone involved in the prosecution, incarceration and removal of Kwame is a Democrat except Cox.

How's that removal of Vitter coming along for hiring prostitutes and lying about it. I saw his "family values" campaign ads, they are priceless now that we know he was banging hookers left and right. That must be another GOP "family value" it is ok to pay for sex and have sex in the office, unless of course it is the Oval Office. Anywhere else but the Oval Office or with a hooker and you are ok with "family values."

I never tried to defend any of those people. I think that they are wrong as well. If they break the law, then they should be held responsible. You sure have a thing with family values though, what happened, did your boyfriend run of with a prostitute?

It's about time--this scumbag has done nothing but bring shame to Detroit and it's people. It's hard enough for black people to advance in public life without the Kilpatrick's of the world making it even harder. He should rot in jail until he reimburses the city the millions it has spent investigating and paying off his misdeeds.

Sometimes the truth hurts. By the way, to bad your guy's energy policy wasn't as clever as your posting name.

Good Morning!

I am dissapointed...what if you or me had commited the same type of assault?

It is not right when someone who has gotten rich by commiting crimes and purjury can use those ill gotten gains to get sprung from the slammer while ordinary people get stuck with public "defenders" who innocent or guilty don't even try to defend anyone!

Will he be getting Pro-Bono lawyers?(Get a famous guy off and get free publicity...another free perk for the rich and famous!)

Probley paid him big money from the tax payers of Detroit to get that ruling reversed, and since our governer has no back bone and wont step in. Its not a wonder this state has went to ****.

1 night in jail for violating Bond is "too far"??? Sheesh, what an embarrassment that side of the state is! By going to Canada he should have been considered a flight risk and had his bond or bail revoked and sat his sorry b.u.tt in jail until he comes up for trial like most anyone else would who showed this much blatant disregard for the law would.

A brief visit to Canada is not indication of much of a flight risk. It was the "I'm more important than your stinking bond conditions" attitude that got him in trouble in combination with the deputy pushing incident. I think ordinarily he would have been remanded and then brought back for a bail review after cooling his heels for a few days. Like Giles said he was getting his attention. The bond set today is a logical and reasonable progression from where the bond was earlier.

I am impressed with how tough they have been on him down there. Not only are they locking his butt up the judges have been very critical of him.
