Men cheat because they aren't getting enough sex at home. Some men have giant egos and need to prove something by sleeping with lots of women.

It's not that men, or women for that matter, cheat anymore often today than in years passed. It's just that it's no longer a subject that is not discussed in our society.

Some men cheat because they are either looking for something missing in their marriage - intimacy, affection, validation...- or because they miss the thrill of the hunt.

Other men cheat because it is culturally acceptable for them, even expected.

Please keep in mind that women cheat just as much as men, if not more so. We just don't get caught because we're smarter.

If I'm given more, I find no need to look outside of my marriage.

I understand that men cheat, but why do we not acknowledge as readily that women also cheat. As a woman, I have to say that sometimes I think men get a bad rap especially with the change in womens' perception and place in society over the last thirty some odd years.

Claire, I dont think it's acceptable! If you take care of your man, there shouldn't be an issue. Would you agree?

Humans are genetically predisposed to create to pair-bonds, but it's also natural for us to desire sexual variety. Of course, it can be argued that what separates us from animals is a sense of knowing right and wrong and that we should use that to overrule nature. But why must we 'overrule' nature? Why can't people just accept nature, and then we can all stop being so neurotic? The only mores we adhere to are those created by ourselves. Most religions don't even require exclusive monogamy, and that is the ultimate self-created set of mores.

For the same reason married women cheat? Just a wild guess.

I think they cheat because they love to jump the fence, that's it...men feel bored easily with their women, so they want to try new emotions(and new women) for don't feel tied up to only one, although they are. It's men 's stuff.

Taking care of them or not, doesn't matter for them - if they are likely to cheat, they just do it and that's it.

Ephesia, I don't think it is acceptable, but in some cultures it is expected. I grew up in a country where it is normal for a man to have his wife, a girlfriend on the side, whom he supports financially, and if he can handle it as many one nighters as he wishes. Needless to say I won't even consider dating men from the country where I grew up. There are many countries in the world where it is acceptable.

As far as women cheating. I agree with many of the posters, there are many women cheating as well. Whatever happened to loyalty and being faithful?

I think many men and women cheat because they realize that the person they are married to are not the person they married. People change and not always for the better. I never cheated but I know the person I married was not the same as the person I dated. Sometimes you need to look elsewhere to find the love and fullfilment that your spouse is not giving you.

Because they are naturally liars. Why bother getting married if you can't live up to the vows you took? They set themselves up for failure. Guys , just be honest - get a maid, have your girlfriends, and save honest women some heartbreak and yourselves alot of money.

Men cheat for the adventure, the thrill, the mystery and the excitement. Women do it for the same reasons.

I believe men cheat just for the thrill. the excitment their adrenaline just goes nuts. women also cheat but for different reasons. husbands stop paying attention to them, and if a nice guy flirts with a women it makes us feel good. some women do it out of boredom, alone alot, and also the thrill.
I always wonder why some men and women cheat and why some dont. As you can tell my ex cheated and boy can i tell you some stories........
I believe in marriage vows and men or women who cheat are just to lazy to work on their marriage.

I believe that men cheat for different reasons. They want strong women but then can't handle them. They then seek feeble minded ones to encounter their egos, for the moment.

or

They claim they can handle their wife's success over theirs, ultimately they can't and this is when you find out about the extra-marital affairs with women who, let's just say are less fortunate.
