This has got 'Made for TV Movie' written all over it! How sad to see the depths to which people will go for money and 'stuff'. Desperate people do desperate things.

Most pilots are smart people. I think if he wanted to kill himself he would have. He was already setting up his defense. Had his previous plans worked out, he never would have done this. THe guy is a scum.

Most pilots are smart people. THis guy knew he was going to be caught so he slit his wrists? He was already trying to set up his defense. What about that he is just a scum bag trying to get away with criminal behavior....

The first obvious problem was the fuel. Couldn't the airplane fly to Florida non-stop? Did he just not fill the tank?
But the other problem is his "mayday". He was bleeding so he bailed out??
Fill the tank and then "Mayday" a heartattack. That would have been believable. He was under a lot of stress.
Mayday "chest pains!", bailout, plane goes down in the Gulf.
I havn't yet figured out how to explain the open door that the Airforce pilots reported.
