Now I have really heard it all. Secretaries are striking now!!! Fire them and hire new ones. Are you kidding me!?! And the teachers union supports them. Whats next the teachers are going to strike?
I want the president of the US to do something about unions. Get rid of them Obama if you can. I would vote for you if you could get this accomplished. Union = Greed which = suffering students!
Shame on the secretaries. Fire Them!!!

I wonder what "language" it is that they don't like. I don't think they want to say what it is about their contract that they don't like.I bet it is MONEY. I'm sorry, but I feel that these secretaries are lucky to have jobs in this recession. They should be thankful for that and forget the "LANGUAGE" in their contract. Get back to work. I'm sure their are about 100 people that would love to have your jobs.Strike........you ought to be ashamed of yourselves!

You shouldnt be so narrow minded whatis meant by this is simply a union memeber from the same union isnt suppose to cross the picket line and even though the teachers ARE crossing the picket line they still suport the secreteries. Perhaps before you make comments you should educate yourself?

Fire the lot of them. It's way past time to simply say enough to the unions. Dump each and every one of them and hire in non-union employees.

Maybe you should think about how much is it really worth that the teachers union says they support the secretaries? Nothing. It is worth nothing unless they themselves go on strike. So for them to say they support them is in fact a threat that they could possibly strike. If they were not so there is no reason for them to publicly say they support them. Do you hear the secretaries of the School District ever publicly saying they support the teachers? This is a union flexing its muscle. That is the problems with unions and the reason why the this economy has shown its true colors.

I believe in unions but I do not believe in greed and when unions are just ruining our economy they must be brought back under control and do what they were intended to do - fair jobs at fair wages - what do you think those girls make for typing? My guess is enough - if you want more get a better job and don't hold tax payers and their children hostage to fatten your wallet.

Shocked:

What per cent of the economy is represented by unions? Is it 25%. I guess the rest of the workers have nothing to do with the current economic situations. Think of it this way, would their be a recession if we had no unions????

Have their been any businesses or industries that have filed for bankruptcy or closed their doors that are not represented by a union???

Simple answer YES or NO.

Storm,

I'm not sure where you are going with all of this but a short answer is-YES

I have no idea the % but more than 25 for sure - Police, Fire, Nurses, Teachers, Auto workers, rail, many contractor and construction types like tin, metal, carpenter, electrician, etc.....

I do believe we would still be in a recession with out unions - or we all would be much poorer and the rich much richer.

It appears to me that Storm likes to argue facts and opinions with people on other posts - however it seems that when Storm questions someone with a brain and an economic understanding of our country and how our economy works there is nothing.

Because Storm only understands things that can be answered with YES OR NO - unions, bankpuptcy, and our country's economy are much more complex than YES Or NO.

Where am I going with this?? Soon, Jones AOL will be on this page and I am just getting ready for him. His point is that the unions caused the "depression" we are in. This is why I must keep an eye on him because he distorts the information.

Well than Storm I am sorry for assuming you were attacking my views.

I do not care to get into a debate about all of this - we are in a depression/recession depending on whom you talk to and I believe that the current American way of life has caused it - we spend more than we make from our on personal accounts to our local and Federal goverments. If we all only spent what we made, unions or not, we would not be in debt and therefore there would not be this recession we are currently in.

How much talent does it take to be a secretary? Answer: not much. At my last job, I had secretarial duties, in addition to my regular duties, and I always managed to get everything done. These people are lucky enough to have secure jobs right now, with "bankers' hours," and that's still not good enough for them. March in the scabs, I say.

While Union GREED sure as heck don't help the current situation nor did CEO's BIG FAT BONUSES while sticking it to the working man/woman.. Does anyone forget what "BIG OIL GREED" has done to us that started this snowball rolling downhill??? Exxon/mobil profits in the billions and yet were still seeing $2.50+ gas .What's wrong with that picture?? Let's point the finger where it REALLY needs to be...the GRED in this country is PATHETIC NO ONE can be happy just to live a comfortable life they all want MORE MORE MORE!!
