"Last month, the Solano County District Attorney filed a civil suit against Vallejo smoke shop's Mickel and Parada, alleging unfair business practices, including the sale of individual cigarettes and smoking paraphernalia."

With all the problems that exist in Solano the DA should be doing something else besides worrying about individual cigarettes being sold -- watch out organized crime!!

Proactive law enforcement starts with the little things. Its because of the smoke shops practices that attract the element. Things just tend to happen from there.

This place is a cancer in the city. Everytime I go near this place, there;s youngsters splititng blunts or selling bags of weed. The funny thing is the employees allow this to go on. I was in there 2 weeks ago and the guy behind the counter was discussing marijuana with a 16-18 year old kid. I actually told these youngsters how stupid they are doing their illegal business in plain view. It's like the city allows this to go on
Maybe that's the solution. Get regular people going in there. Same principal as putting more people on the streets cleans up crime. More eyes and more traffic. I'll stop in there to buy a few groceries..

You all needs to knock this off. That is one 30 smoke shops in Vallejo that brings in the most tax money, besides the 10 antique shops downtown. This is ludacrisp!

A number of Bay Area cities have passed ordinances that require businesses that want to sell tobacco products to pay a special licensing fee. The average fee is about $400 per year, and the funds go to support tobacco enforcement. If they violate sales laws or are cited, they lose their license. No license, no sales, no sales, no smoke shop. Vallejo should have such a licensing program. It may eliminate the smoke shop problem entirely.

The community has tried its efforts. Now it's up to the lawmakers to ban smoke shops from Vallejo. Heck, Guilani did it in NYC. What's Vallejo's excuse?

The smoke shops cater to the criminal element. They sell cigarettes out of the pack, they sell crank pipes from behind the counter. Simply a public nuisance if you ask me. What can VPD do now with all the cut backs?
Besides, a city has to be known for something. Unfortunate and sad is what it is.
miguel tell me wat else this city is known for? not much positive. just rappers that encourage illegal activity and end up getting killed. thizzin?

Whatever happened to the old tobacco shops where they sold cigars, cigarettes, pipe tobacco and legitimate pipes? I loved the smell of those shops.
Now it seems these so called "smoke shops", tobacco is just a side line. Paraphernalia, Knives, sex magazines etc. It just adds to the element you don't want in your city.

It is extremely disappointing that neighbors try to pull together to make Vallejo a better place for them and their families. When you have smokeshops such as the Vallejo Smoke Shop selling scales, bongs, knives, glass pipes, individually wrapped cigarettes and the guy on the corner selling pot and crack. It is a problem for the neighbors that have to live in that situation. The judge states that there are other issues in that are contributing to the crime in the area as well, but how is a neighborhood supposed to battle this when they are not even getting support to start where the problem congragates? I know these people in this neighborhood and they are really working to make Vallejo a better place to live. I see them working on the Anti Graffiti task force, City Park Project, and working to solidify the Moratorium on the smokeshops in all of Vallejo. Don't you think it is time that they get some support in return? I hope they continue their fight to regain their neighborhood, but I hope that the City and County start to give them their support.
