Just keeping Vallejo ghetto,

put the foot down

The community has tried its efforts. Now it's up to the lawmakers to ban smoke shops from Vallejo. Heck, Guilani did it in NYC. What's Vallejo's excuse?

Small wonder Vallejo's efforts to attract new business is floundering because of nosey neighbors living in a fantasy world! You need to lighten up folks and have a nice cold one!

I work on Marin Street south of Tennessee and I am tired of that smoke shop. We look out our window and we see the cops stopping and arresting people all the time. Why does the court not do something. The cops have done their job, now it is up the the courts to do theirs.

willig,
it's ugly businesses that detract nicer businesses from moving to Vallejo? Put down your smoke and try something healthy for a change.

This place is a cancer in the city. Everytime I go near this place, there;s youngsters splititng blunts or selling bags of weed. The funny thing is the employees allow this to go on. I was in there 2 weeks ago and the guy behind the counter was discussing marijuana with a 16-18 year old kid. I actually told these youngsters how stupid they are doing their illegal business in plain view. It's like the city allows this to go on

This story doesn't ring true...

My husband and I lived on Louisiana near Marin for several years, and we attended a couple of the early meetings about the smoke shop even though we already had our house on the market and were planning to leave Vallejo. We now live 7000 miles away in a tiny hamlet of six cottages in northwest England. We are in the middle of nowhere, surrounded by rivers, fields and pastures. We walked for several miles yesterday up the country lane outside our door and looked at the newborn lambs and foals. An elderly woman in a cottage 1/2 a mile away invited us in for tea, even though we were complete strangers! It was her birthday today, so we went back to see her and give her a card and a small gift. Do we miss the hoodlems, the prostitutes, the drug dealers of Vallejo? Do we miss the constant sirens all night long? Do we miss locking our door at night and never going out once the sun had set? No!!! But we do wish you all the luck in the world with getting the smoke shop closed. Even if it's not the only problem in the neighborhood, you've got to start somewhere.

Fundamentally Vallejo needs to focus on revitalizing downtown. That means getting smoke shops out. It's amazing we can't get this place closed down if illegal activities occur on the premises.
It's only once you get rid of hydroponic shops and smoke shops that new businesses will start coming in.

The downtown property owners and business owners can work together to feather their own nest. It's time Vallejo's managers take a look at the entire city and spend city resources for the benefit of all citizens, not just the elite few who control downtown.

I know, this time will be the time. It's like the never ending story with the same story and an occasional change of property owners driving the dream to nowhere. 30 years.

If you don't like it then find work elsewhere. I'm so tired of people forcing their opinions/way of life onto others

You all needs to knock this off. That is one 30 smoke shops in Vallejo that brings in the most tax money, besides the 10 antique shops downtown. This is ludacrisp!
Flozelle out!!!!

Just another example of poor leadership of Vallejo politicians doing nothing. They try to take credit while accomplishing nothing. The school board is in the same boat. They talk about the children needing to be in school while there are many kids wondering around the streets of Valllejo.Their parents should be held accountable.

The smoke shops cater to the criminal element. They sell cigarettes out of the pack, they sell crank pipes from behind the counter. Simply a public nuisance if you ask me. What can VPD do now with all the cut backs?
Besides, a city has to be known for something. Unfortunate and sad is what it is.
