Governor wrong on budget

Your suggestion is wrongheaded and will never work. Increasing taxes drives down government revenues and does nothing to balance the budget. Further putting super taxes on smokes and booze only drives those into the underground trade as is the case in New York state with tobacco. You clearly do not understand human nature and you are ignorant of our own history on matter like this.

The way to balance the state budget is CUTS combined with a very small increase in sales taxes across the board. However the major item is cuts to the out of control spending in Sacramento starting with the perks for legislators and state employees.

Why is it that all you goody two shoes have to always say raise taxes on cigarettes and alcohol? If someone wants to smoke or keep a six pack in his or her frig, it's none of anyone elses damn business!

I have a better idea for increasing tax revenues. first, double the green fees, premium cigar prices, and retail sales at every golf course in California - the increase goes to the state. Second: Enact a 15% luxury tax (additional tax) on all vehicles that are considered "luxury" including Harley Davidsons. The 15% goes to the state. Use Eminent Domaine to take and sell the real estate property and all vehicles of people convicted of murder, arson, rape, violent crimes against children and any other violent henious crime, the proceeds naturally going to the state. Add to this list other things that fit, stop attacking the little guy by taxing him and her to death. I agree with doubling personal income taxes on the rich that make more than 60G for single persons or more than 100G for married couples. After all these different sorts of income comes in to the state, then the state can get completely out of debt and immediately lower the State Income Tax, gas tax and other taxes to all the citizens that are not considered "rich".
