This is for all you Benicia snobs out there….

Comments from the “Officials identify shooting victim” article

Yes, this was posted on myspace and there was $3.00 admission price. If I knew how to copy and paste the flyer and the You Tube video that came along on the bulletin I would post it. But yes it wasn't just people that werent invited..anyone and everyone was invited as long as you were going to pay and were over 18, but I know for a fact that there were under agers there.
So with all of the pages and pages of comments about how Vallejo kids crashed their party and if it wasn't for those Vallejo kids.... I think some people need to post some apologies for the insulting things that were posted in a public forum and they should be ashamed of themselves for being so out of line with their Benicia is so much better than Vallejo...If anything they have only shown their ignorance.

Not only was it Benicia that caused the problem but they're the ones who advertised its location and charged a $3.00 admission to attend. I hope the admission money that was collected is donated to the family who know has to bury their child.....since you all have posed how much better Benicia residents are in comparison to your Vallejo neighbors…it's the least that you could do....one would think!

I just think Benicia parents are blind to the fact that their kids are not perfect. I was a teen through the mid nineties in Benicia, and I'll tell you what, even the kids who had prominent, well respected parents in the community, were out doin dirt behind their parents backs. Drinking, doing drugs. Because there was and still is nothing for people that age to do in that town. And from what I've seen from the kids in Benicia now, it's only getting worse. When I was in Highschool, everyone was smoking weed, and drinking...now I hear that ecstasy is the big thing now. Quit ignoring your kids people, or it's only going to get worse. So if you're reading this saying, "no, my kid doesnt do that kind of stuff", then you're most likely mistaken. And that's just speaking the truth.

Man, this is the truth. It's too bad this is being buried in this article. Once kids reach High School age there is absolutely nothing for kids to do in this town except the obvious. Kids need to blow off steam no matter where they live. If this town keeps ignoring this little fact the problems here will get worse as time goes on. It won't be long before they are all packing and these same parents will be wondering "what happened to this town, it used to be so quiet?".

You know what? All the idiotic Benicia snobs need to close their mouths. I really can't stand you AT ALL. If someone plays a rap song they are "ghetto"? There is the possiblity that they enjoy the music. That's not ghetto. Ghetto is coming to school in pajama pants with a puffy jacket, sneakers wearing a head scarf and swinging a tacky dollar store purse with purple and pink hair. However that is beside the point.
You stuck up losers from Benicia need to drop the white supremacist attitudes. I'm black and I'm educated and that's not an exception to some unwritten rule. What are you going to do if I set foot in Benicia? Call Hitler? You make me sick.

Raynee, can you please explain what you mean by "your people"?

Can you be any more of a racist than that! And while I am at it may I ask what KIND OF PEOPLE are you?

You sound very ignorant, Hmmm....

We all have people. My people are Asian. The person Raynee was responding to said she's black - her people are black. We can't even say "our people" anymore? Is that too offensive? Get real! Do you live in the real world? Raynee was being what we refer to as sarcastic and that's a far cry from racist. I don't know what race Raynee is, but the poster she responded to left a ridiculous post and went on to prove him or herself as ignorant and then had the audacity to interject that they were educated. Raynee obviously poked fun at that. But it was okay for the poster to point out what real ghetto is and you gave him/her a pass on that. Why is that? Leave race out of it and stop trying to pick fights over symantecs. Sometimes it's just about ignorance. Hm-m-m-m

I will gladly answer you Moejeau.

First off, I didn't say "kind" of people. I said "your people." Where I'm from, that means from whom you hail.

I am the furtherest from being a racist, as I have a mixed race family. In my family you will find, Japanese, Italian, Portugese, Chinese, African-American, Puerto Rican and Scandinavian. These are MY people.

I went back and forth on whether to even respond to your post, but I thought it might be helpful to you to remember not to jump to judgement so quickly. Maybe you have a chip on your shoulder? I don't know. I think I caught the brunt of your obvious anger.

My previous post was meant to be funny and nothing more. The post I responded to however, was ignorant and that was my point. It was just a funny post in that, it was more of a rant than anything. I was making fun of that point. That's it.

If my family and I had your mindset, we wouldn't be able to be a family. We would constantly be dissecting each other's words and trying to read between the lines. We wouldn't be able to coexist as a family at all. Sometimes words are just words and nothing more.

I hope this helps you understand.

Good luck.

Raynee, I do not need any help understanding your point; however misguided I feel it is. What you need to understand is that it only takes a few words to be misunderstood and when you use a phrase such as “your people” it leaves some with a racial undertone knowing that the comment you were responding to was from an African-American.

I understand that you’re a mutt (now that should be an acceptable term under your definition of acceptable) so you may not have an understanding of what it feels like to have your culture demeaned by the phrase “your people”, that I understand and accept that without any chips on my shoulder. I’m sure your fellow Puerto Rican’s would have plenty to say if you referred to them as anything else but Puerto Rican or Latin but as you said “Sometimes words are just words and nothing more”….

You sound like a lovely person. Much happiness to you now and always. I will wear my Mutt badge that you so kindly branded me with, and I will share your sentiments with my family. My people will surely get a laugh out of your hypersensitivity. Good day!:>}

I grow tired of every story ending up with Vallejo bashing. I recently moved back here after 30 years and found a town that had gotten worse in some ways and better in others. The most irritating thing was I found that what once were the most lovely hills in the world (at least to me) are now covered in cookie cutter houses. I was elated to see how many old historical homes have been bought and lovingly restored. I found in my touring of the, new to me, Vallejo, a very interesting downtown, stumbled across a building full of shops, and the most amazing sandwich shop, with the most wonderful people running it. A new bakery is to be coming to town, I hear, and thats a good thing, I hope they locate downtown.

If you must comment on a topic, please stop turning the topic into an opportunity to deride a struggling, yet coming out of the ashes town. Many fine, fine people live here, including the youth. There are misguided youth everywhere. I, for one, love it and find the politics vastly entertaining, having lived in Louisiana for a time and coming here from Chicago. Vallejo politics have a long way to go before they get as entertaining as those two places, but, hey you take what you can get. I feel pretty darn safe in Vallejo, or at least as safe as I feel anywhere.

Please stop bashing Vallejo, unless of course, the topic is, "lets bash Vallejo".

Class act Raynee! I'm a mutt too and proud of it. In fact, there aren't many of us who aren't.

Smiles!
