This was the old "Gold Star" cafe, across from "Rocco's Place" near the Wilson Ave. intersection. When Mare Island the shipyard was operating, you were lucky to get a seat at either for lunchtime.

One burning question:
Why is BBQ so expensive ?
It's for the most part made with cheap material... beans, rice, peas, starches etc. Why the ridiculous out of touch with reality prices ?

The time it takes, the coals, wood, whatever fuel is used. Making sure the meat is fresh, cuz in Vallejo, it takes one to shut you down, everybody else is going to feel sick too. I don't think I would go to a cheap Que shop.

I've just always wondered, because almost every que shop I've ever been to has been pricey... Everett & Jones, King A's,That place on Divisadero in SF.., Gracies etc...I can understand the meat costs, but the sides are always priced way off, for that matter so are the links...

It's a trip you said that, you're into it another 6 bucks for a scoop of beans, greens and 2 pieces of cornbread no matter where you go. That is weak. Hey, off the subject, Philly Cheese Steak shop on University in Berzerkley. You are stuffed for your 6 bucks, and its quality grub. Don't forget your stamp card, it pays off.

It might be a good thing, as long as the service is good, we're dealing with a woman who is very vocal about hers. Not just vocal, it could turn real bad, no fear though, I have AAA roadside service and I can still run hella fast for an old cat, just incase .
