I remember driving by the Temple out in RV, and seeing trucks with big wooden crates stamped Guyana...

Didn't the Temple always leave a cake if you had a death in the family or some other bad event?

I now know why Rick Warren ex Ukiah High, now mega church superstar does not want an affiliation with Ukiah. Who was the main preacher in RV when he was a young "Jesus Freak"?

The reason jones moved to redwood valley was he felt he and his followers would be safe from a nuclear attack....that kinda shows where his head was at...apocalyptic undertones. Those poor people looking for paradise on earth.

Jim Jones... May he rot in Hell...
As a Teenager I knew he was a Creep and could never understand why adults though he was so Great...
Nasty Pig liked lay his hand on us while we swam at the Church's Pool. He was nothing but a Child Molestor.. of both Boys and Girls.. He was one Sick ****. I feel so sorry for all the Children this Pig fathered by raping countless Girls and Women. How horrible to have to admit you have The DNA of the Devil himself running through your veins.
A Bullet in his head was way too good for him.... I can think of many other forms of torture and death that would have been more appropriate.....

I remember when my dad worked at masonite in the 70's and coming home and telling me about those employees that handed over their paychecks to Jones. Very sad.

Jim Jones was a substitute teacher at Ukiah High while my English teacher was out with the flu for a week. He was so charismatic that he is the only sub I remember in 12 years of elementary and high school. At lunch everyone was talking about the sub who had us call him Jim instead of Mr Jones. We were impressionable because we were young. I guess some never grew out of that.

I forgot to mention that anyone seeing the program on Jim Jones who doesn't see the similarity to our next president is denying the obvious.

About the similarities, you are blind, brainwash, just like some of his followers were. Wake up and face REALITY. HE IS THE ELECTED PRESIDENT. GIVE HIM A CHANCE AND YOU NEED TO PRAY. WHEN YOU SEE THINGS ARE NOT GOING YOUR WAY, PRAY.

Isn't that what jimmie jones said, pray???I know President Obama is intelligent and that is a step in the right direction for our dear country but prayer has nothing to do with politics dear soul,he got my vote and i will support him unless he proves to be something else.

I'm sure if Jim Jones had been my substitute teacher at any time, I would never forget him either. I feel sorry for anyone who ever had to come in contact with him at any time. Yes, you were impressionable and seem to never have gotten over it. I agree with you on that one.

But, to bring politics into this, and see or find any similarities to our new President Elect Obama is totally ridiculous!

Today is the day. 30 years ago today. We should all thank Congressman Leo Ryan, who gave his life, and Congresswoman Jackie Spier, who still carries bullet fragments. Why were the locals duped? Huh, Duncan James? Sheriff Reno Bartolomei and others, what about Willie Brown, Reverand Cecil Williams, who supported Jones?

The story is well told in "The Cult that Died", by the authors of the New West Magazine series that finally broke open the Temple.

Im sure that Duncan James, & Bartolomei would like to forget this nightmare.... Thats what I could never figure out... why all these adults thought Jones was so wonderful?... My Grandmother ran a Rest Home for the Elderly, and Jones used to come out with his Wife who was the Social Worker for Mendocino County. Once when Jones got done Preaching and trying to recruit the Old Ladies he backed me in a Corner and tried to put his hands all over me. I was only 13 at the time! I knew he was a Creep... Its scary to think of how many people fell under his spell. Leo Ryan, Jackie and the rest who either died or were injured that day are Heros. May Ryan rest in Peace, and may Jones Rot in Hell!

I think the point being made was that the only difference between a church and a cult is the size of the hall in which they meet. The love of socialist principle and ability to suck in uneducated people because you are eloquent and a wordsmith. Empty rhetoric...
