Measure G started as a noble cause, but has become the most abused public policy any of us will ever see. This abuse was enabled in large part by politicians and law enforcement leaders who allowed it to explode, in exchange for votes and campaign contributions.

The laws against marijuana need to be consistent, from local to state to federal. If it is going to be legal, make it legal everywhere, not just here: if it is illegal everwhere else, it should be illegal here.

Measure G has only been codified and law since June of 2007. It is codified as 9.36 of Mendo co code. How can you determine if its been abused after less than 8 months of implementation??????

Let's face it, you have one of the media news groups floundering newspapers obviously being bought out by the measure B proponents. I don't think the repeal of measure G is going to work. The only other industry for the area is wineries, which help litter our nation's highways with the mamed and dead bodies of drunk driving crash victims. How is this more noble than simply growing herb?

don't the proponents of Measure B understand that marijuana growing is the only thing keeping this economy out of the tank? go after the abusers but don't punish the mom n pops...they're the lifeblood of the county! furthermore, the law enforcement resources necessary to wipe out the small growers is way beyond the capacity of a poor county...if the county government had sense, they'd figure out how to profit more off an industry that someday will be appreciated...remember, even John Parducci began as a "bootlegger"

The people of this Country quite frankly are becoming aware & sick and tired that the government only sees them as sources of revenue or slave labor in some privately owned prison for profit. Cannabis has never hurt anyone yet they will send a fully armed military assault squad to kick your door in and kill you & your pets and family members before you harm yourself with a plant that only threatens their stock portfolios. Drug Laws are RACIST. Harry Angslinger was a RACIST. Prohibition only serves those who profit from it not those it pretends to Protect. Your reefer Madness ad campaigns are no longer working and in fact have always backfired. Cannabis is the cure for CANCER and many other diseases, that's a Fact. When it threatens their profit margin your life and freedom becomes the enemy. They value money more then life liberty and the pursuit of happiness.THE TIME TO WAKE UP IS NOW.

Almost every law gets "abused" sooner or later. All "substances", in their nature, abuse human intelligence. Following this stream of consciousness, the frog brained readers of the UDJ are being asked for their opinions as though this sort of survey meant anything more than a beauty queen contest. May a cloud of pot smoke descent on the valleys of the realm, and may rivers of boutique driven wine flood the wide open mall spaces. What we need is a law against the circulation of stupidity.

blame mj for everything bad that is happening in the county and the state; that is what some folks want to have us believe. when ever did a hard working gardener or needy patient go postal and kill his classmates or coworkers? why not outlaw prozac and a long list of drugs and vaccines that have know adverse effects?. when did they discover adverse health effects from the use of marijuana? how about tobacco and alcohol? pharmaceuticals? cosmetics?
coca-cola and soda beverages generally? aspartame? the police state gang that rules in every jurisdiction, lies and lies to get things their way; wine and steak for everyone who can afford it and slave labor in one prison or another for the rest. i guess they plan on paying for the new 50 million dollars county prison/kangaroo courthouse off the back of peaceful and harmless patients and their providers. the unconstitutional esquires who run the courts, will bleed to death anyone who does not tow the line.

Yeah we're not repealing this. Marijuana WILL be decriminalized again in my lifetime, I guarantee it.

It was made illegal because of racism, greed, ignorance, and to further some asshat's political future. Harry J. Anslinger, like mentioned above, was a piece of garbage politician working for the Federal Bureau of Narcotics and decided he needed more coverage and power and decided to demonize pot because mexicans, blacks, and jazz musicians smoked it.

He claimed it made white women want to have relations with negroes, it made negroes think they were as good as white men, etc.

He was a piece of garbage just like John Walters, our current Drug Czar. Christ, the American Medical Association came out AGAINST Anslinger and still lost, because people in the 30's were gullible and believed everything the government spoonfed them.

The evidence is in the real world people, how many people do you know that have died from pot? 0. Nobody has ever died from smoking it, it's healthy, fun, and doesn't kill anyone. Look through the governments lies and make your voice be heard.

The time is now, the government works for US, not the other way around let's put them back in line, and get them out of our private lives.

And all of this is without mentioning the ridiculous amount of things hemp can be used for, such as FUEL. Henry Ford made a car out of hemp, and fueled it with hemp. This could easily wipe out the oil business for good and save our environment...

Do the right thing people, the government has no right to tell you what you can and cannot do with your own body. Our founding fathers are rolling in their graves at what our nation has become...

You know if you ALL are going to argue 'economy' as the reason to 'keep the herb' alive and 'growing' in Mendo then I'm going to ask you...

Why don't you grow vegetables? Feed your community with local grown, organic, fresh vegetables.

Why don't you start a small 'Mom-n-Pop' service business?

Why don't you do some volunteer work for the community?

Why don't you become a teacher?"

You know, bring something good and wholesome to your community...not something that alters our children's minds and something that brings other drugs and crimes to our community.

You people have already abandoned the 'I'm only growing medicine man' argument so early...

plants are natural. some kill, some heal, and some get you high. plants grow everywhere. illegalizing a natural plant is not natural. supressing a plant so pharmaceutical companies can make more money is just evil. if someone appreciates the beauty of a plant let them grow it. this should be no concern of the government what i do with my body. if they can sell poison tobbacco and alcohol to people then i can grow a plant that has never killed anyone. so this message is for the government: Fcuk off.

If marijuana were completely legal, prices would drop and the problems that are angering and frightening many people would disappear. Can you imagine having secret grow rooms, attack dogs, and meth addict thievery over a crop of parsley or echinacea? I don't think so.

It's not a war on drugs, it's a war on minorities. Think about it: all these 'drugs' occur quite naturally from plants that grow all over planet Earth with absolutely no help from humans: opium,'marijuana' a.k.a. cannabis, cocaine,'shrooms (psychedelic mushrooms) and not only have humans and these plants co-existed since before the beginning of recorded history, mankind has thrived anyway. Yet these naturally occurring substances have only been outlawed since the beginning of the 20th century (1900-) Why? So Uncle Sam had a reason to stuff his prisons with nonviolent 'criminals' whose only 'crime' was to be in possession of one of these naturally occurring plants.
Our government's job is not to protect you (though it should be), our government's job now is to strike fear into your hearts and get you to give up your rights so they can more easily control you.
There are tons of reasons why cannabis is illegal and not a single one is honest. Did you know both Henry Ford and Rudolph Diesel *both* designed cars that ran on *hemp oil* before they designed cars that ran on gasoline? Did you know that in the middle east they will send you to prison for life if you are caught with cannabis? Why? Because if cannabis were legal, we'd never need their black gold (oil) again! And why do you think people refer to it as 'weed'? Because it grows ANYWHERE! It is the most prolific plant on the planet.

Measure B is not about legalizing marijuana or not. It is not about the medical benefit or harm of medical or recreational marijuana consumption. It is about clear and consistent laws that are not internally conflicting or in conflict with other, superior laws. Measure G is in conflict with superior state law making it none binding thus it only serves to provide a false sense of security to the very people it pretends to help.
Further, measure G directs local law enforcement to put ALL marijuana laws (sales, cultivation, transportation at any scale)as their lowest priority.
While I personally prefer to see marijuana legal at the federal level what we have here is the worst of all worlds.

I will try to answer you, you have asked a serious questions and I applaud you for not pointing out the obvious errors (its not one in ten, its just a little more than 1 in 100) in some of the rants.
What makes you think we don't do all of the things you mentioned? What makes you think we aren't Doctors and Lawyers and heads of charity organizations?? What makes you think I didn't go to the baseball games and soccer games etc.? Considering estimates of the number of people, 15 million that smoke Marijuana or a 'regular basis' its obvious we do all of thode thongs isn't it? With one exception, we don't poison anyones kids. I think this should give you enough to think about.
The propaganda tells you we are something else, we are your neighbors and the only reason you don't know it is because we don't want to get arrested, get the point? VV

Folks please understand our Government doesn't make money on the drug war unless you include the CIA. They spend it, Billions of it. It does give a lot of folks jobs, it doesn't make money for the government.
Please be careful when you make statements in support, be accurate and give a source if its lengthy. The 'facts' don't need to be embellished, and doing so only hurts us. Your simple 'typo' can do damage. Please? VV
