Well, as usual you were not paying attention in school--it was the Indians who whacked the European settlers at the second Thanksgiving day festivities that the Pilgrims were kind enough to invite the Indians to. Not the other way around. It was the Indians who wiped the whole of Roanoke Colony and it was the Indians who attacks the whites at Raleigh. Just read The Declaration Of Independence to see what atrocities the indians committed. They felt a need even in that document to document their crimes.

I've waded through this thread and watched it go downhill. What was for the most part an informative discussion turned into a bunch of cheap shots at all blacks, with the expected result that some blacks responded with the same anger that started all this.
Fact: Blacks commit the lion's share of violent crimes.
Fact: Black on black violent crime is much higher than black on White crime.
Fact: Average blacks are also disgusted by black gangs. You're letting you're emotions fool you if you you ignore the fact that black kids are subject to intense peer pressure at a young age that too often overrides anything a parent can do. Black students are too often berated, beaten and shunned by their peers for "acting white" when they try to excel at academics. That doesn't excuse their behavior at all, but laying too much blame on parents, many of them single mothers, is small-minded.
Fact: Too many black leaders are too quick to excuse the behavior and too quick to jump on the police for trying to keep a lid on the problems. Their calculated overplaying of the race card only in frustrating attempts for honest peple to do the righ thing. It also keeps those "leaders" in power.
From an earlier post that was scoffed at: "Work A Day Brother should not have to explain anything but his own behavior, but like many "work a day brothers" he is tired of all the racist comments EVERY SINGLE TIME a black crime is committed." I fully agree. The guy always makes intelligent comments and too often has to defend minor statements like why he uses the word brothers when referring to blacks, including the thugs.
I understand using this site to vent frustrations, but racist comments are ignorant and should be jumped on.

IMO there are areas of the cities where you should be afraid to walk. I'd still be afraid to walk through certain neighborhoods at 2:00 a.m. regardless of how many guns I was carrying. I'm not saying it's "right", it just IS.
Not all murders occur face-to-face. A drive-by would be over long before you ever got a chance to draw (assuming you survived it). Even in a face-to-face confrontation, if it was a group attack or, as mentioned in this article, the assailant "appeared out of nowhere", you could be overwhelmed before you have a chance to defend yourself.
I'm not attacking your right to carry or the fact that it makes you feel safer. I would simply suggest that a little fear is not a bad thing. Combined with situational awareness and common sense it may keep you from putting yourself into a situation where drawing or firing your weapon would become necessary.
