Did Michelle Gross go around and petition or interview other Newport residents? I did't get a knock on my door. One person complains and all of a sudden we have police brutality. FFS what is the world comming to? Michelle Gross is another Al Sharpton, getting involved without getting the facts(Sharpton and the 1987 case that was bogus). This is not a legitamate claim nor is it news worthy. I have delt with the city cops here and have never had an issue. I think a lot of facts are not being included with this story.

New Minnesota Republic wrote: You folks on this discussion board, criticizing this guy, are too funny! You think that Police abuse doesn't exist, especially in small town America.(buzzard sound) NEWSFLASH AMERICA!!! Police brutality DOES exist in any city or town across the nation. It's just been under the rug so long because people refuse to accept the truth about it! Silence and mental denial contributes much of the censorship about police abuse in real life. Of course, police brutality exists, just not in Mr. Hansen's case. In fact, I would call this a case of 911 abuse and would begin writing citations for each of Hansen's non-emergency calls to police. May I suggest that if you're passionate about the issue of police brutality and authority abuse, you should use your voice in cases where ACTUAL abuses have taken place.

And furthermore, I would suggest that Mr. Hansen try solve his own quarrels by talking to his neighbors, joining a community group, maybe. Get a hobby that gets your mind off what the neighbors are doing in their own homes. Just please, for the good of the community who shares your police force, please stop asking the police to solve every little complaint you have about your neighbors' lifestyles. The police are there when you need them, NEED THEM, not to play mommy each time someone offends you. I truly wish you (and your neighbors) peace of mind.

You'd think that Chief Mueslix would know better than to enter someone's dwelling without a warrant. Even people who go into unlocked garages without permission get charged with burglary. I think the Chief making a personal appearance at this guy's house when he could have Fed Ex'ed the papers to him is evidence of an attempt to intimidate--there was no reason for the Chief of Police to go to his house, much less be in his garage.

Our society has tempered people to be unable to solve their own problems. Neighbor's grass to long? Call the cops! Dog across the street barking? Call the cops! AAARRGH! Go talk to your neighbors. They're people, just like you. Don't be scared. As far as Hansen is concerned; Citizens & Newport PD- good luck! I wouldn't wish him upon anyone.

Burglary can only be charged is there is proof of intent to commit a crime, such as assault or theft. I do agree its a little weird for the chief to be making a house call in this instance, though.

You're the fruitcake from Mendota Heights who can't get along with the owner of the tobacco shop across the street. I remember your spaced out comments from the smoking article. You and Mr Hansen are loony birds of the same feather. Both have vendettas against anyone in your line of sight. Both with obscure complaints against motorcyclists. Both filled with conspiracy theories. Maybe you should give Miss {would you marry her?} Gross a call and she can be your "contemporary" witness. LOL. Gotta run. I'm due back at Area 51 in a few minutes. Love, Gagu

I have a neighbor just like this, wastes police time — and neighbors' patience — with endless complaints that never result in a valid complaint. They make life miserable for others because they are miserable.

So if I honestly believed the police of my town were harassing me, I would MOVE to a different town! Then, if the same thing happens in the new town, you've got REAL proof that the problem is YOU. Basically this seems to be a very lonely man who is crying out for attention. Maybe a neighbor can reach out to him?!?

If I were to write the story, I would have checked out his previous addresses to see if there problems there, too.

This must be quite a conspiracy that Hansen's neighbors all agree he has issues and mkes issues of non-issues. Coordinating all those stories to match must surely take a lot of time for those evil cops.
