I think that Paul Hansen should get together with Alice Krengal from West St Paul. They may have alot in common. And I believe Paul when he says the Chief was rummaging through his garage. They seem to think that if the door is open, they can snoop.

This fellow Hansen seems like the neighbor from hell. He should have his head examined.

It seems like these stories happen more often in Minnesota than anywhere else. What a great state!

What a waste of community resources. Maybe the City should charge Hansen for some of these bogus calls.

Sounds like Mr. Hansen does not get enough attention. You have your 15 minutes, now let your neighbors be and stop bugging the police.

He should join the ACLU or give Al Sharpton a call.

Mick, it's just that here in Minnesota we still have room in our newspapers to print relatively minor stories like this. We haven't (yet!) been overwhelmed with the sheer volume of violent crime and other mayhem stories that would crowd out the lesser stuff.

Hansen is desparate for attention. Since he retired, he is looking for a social outlet so calling the police about frivolous issues is his way of getting a social connection. Hansen needs counseling or maybe an IPOD or MP3 Player to help divert his compulse disorder

I have known Veid Muiznieks for three years now. We are fellow amateur boxing officials. I have found him to be one of the most approachable members of the law enforcement community I have ever encountered. In addition to working with youth through boxing (which is unpaid), Veid is a DARE officer, served in the military, and listens to classical music. He has spoken with me, on any number of topics, with intelligence, compassion, and humor. In other words, I find him to be a decent human being. I can understand that because he was not the focus of the article, these points were not brought up. Nevertheless, I find it distressing when, in an article about alleged harassment and brutality, we characterize individuals simply by their job title. As some of the comments ("they like to snoop") indicate, people then make assumptions based on someone's occupation.

Kenneth Siems, of Minneapolis, looked up at his placard and scratched his head. It said, "Stop bullying children," with the word "children" blocked out by tape. "I don't know what this is for," he said. "I have never been to a protest before." __________ This reminds me of the episode WKRP In Cincinnati when they changed formats and wound up with a rag-tag group of listeners who didn't like the new format. One nut leading the protest and the rest clueless about why they were there.

Sounds like Mr. Hansen needs to get a different hobby... or a prescription for clozapine.

Communities United Against Police BrutalityI would like to correct an inaccuracy in this article. Communities United Against Police Brutality is a twin-cities based regional organization. We take on cases in Minneapolis, St. Paul and the surrounding suburbs. In fact, we are often contacted by people around the state of Minnesota and even by people in other states. It would not be unusual for us to take action on concerns anywhere in this region and we have done so in Chaska, Brooklyn Park, Richfield and many other locations. Members of our organization live in all parts of the twin cities. Further, having worked with Paul Hansen for approximately a year and hearing about his situation incident by incident, we do not feel "snookered." The most recent incident, in which Paul emerged from his home to find the police chief in his garage without a warrant, looking through his possessions, is only one of a long line of harassments. Given the history, one would think the chief would simply use the post office to deliver any letters to Mr. Hansen. We are proud to have supported Paul and will continue to monitor the situation and offer our support as needed. Michelle Gross, President Communities United Against Police Brutality

Michelle Gross: Your organization needs to be carefull of who you advocate for. You may want to do some independent investigation into accusations before pulling off dumb stunts like this. Just because people make accussatons doesnt make them true. More publicity like this and your group will be looked upon as a bunch of kooks. The people that were there sounded like they didn't even know why. They sound like people who just need something to do or as the guard said to them on the way out "Get a life".
