Looking at the apparently malnourished cow in the picture it looks like they forgot to photoshop the legs of the animal. But then again, if they only told the truth then no one would pay them any mind. Pictures like this make the cash register go ka-ching.

Those are all legitimate government services, that clearly are pretty solidly allowed by the US Constitution. And if that's all my taxes went to pay for, then I'd be happy, in part because my taxes would be very much lower.

If the industry claims that these videos are fake, then they can sue. The fact that they aren't doing so makes it pretty clear that they know there is truth to the videos and are simply trying to talk their way out of it by pointing to inspections and regulations which don't work. And really quotes from some of these industry front groups which go after everyone with an interest in protecting our health and environment are just shameful. You don't have to be a fan of PETA to know that the videos are real and show cruelty.
These videos are fake! A dairy farmer would not be in business long if they treated their cows the way that is portrayed. The cost of producing a gallon of milk is higher than what the dairymen are being paid for it. Right now they are still milking because the investment into a lifetime of work is too great not to. They are holding on with their bare teeth. AND NOW PeTA Shows these false videos! It is almost enough to make dairymen quit milking entirely. Then where would you get your milk? Are you going to own a cow and milk her morning and night, strain the milk, put it up, skim it, and use it? Are you going to feed her morning and night? Are you going to check and make sure you use the correct stuff to keep her from getting mastitis? And what are you going to do when you are too tired to do all of this every singe day? Not milk her?
Everyone better thing what the animal rights left wing is doing to our food source. I hope someone does decide to sue PeTA. They are the animal killers. They were found to be guilty of dumping bodies of kitten and puppies into trash bins behind a convenience store. They are the ones that kill 99% of the animals that they rescue. Check your facts...it is all in the Virginia reports that they have to file to maintain their shelter status. http://www.petakillsanimals.com/petakillsanim...

He never said "any" taxes, he did in fact say "excessive" taxes. That kind of revisionist arguing is called "strawman logic" Just because he said he didn't want to pay more than his fair share in taxes does NOT mean he doesn't want to pay for reasonable societal necessities, it means he is against wasteful unnecessary spending! People like you who revise other people's comments and twist their logic are pathetic! I realize that is ad hominem but I can't stand it!

Our brains have grown and evolved for what? To allow us to come up with ever more ways of being selfish and uncaring? I see no intelligence in that.
PeTA has always campaigned for 'animal rights', many people think they have become watered down in recent years not more extreme.
Animals can be manipulated in many ways to make them produce. When profits are the only motivating factor all sorts of corners will be cut. How do we expect these massive producers to give any kind of individual care to their animals?
We didn't climb to the top of the food chain, at best we are ungracious opportunists. All we're saying is let's have a bit more compassion - are you sure you can't live without meat? I've been vegan 10 years and it's very easy - the web is full of places to get help and support.
Hey, Im happy for you, Robby!...you just keep munching away at your fruits, nuts, & granola, and whatever other sheep food blows your hair back.

Me? Im doing my part to save the planet too; see, all those cow farts create a lot of methane which, as you know, Robby, contributes to the green house effect and global warming.

So everytime I eat beef, Im helping the enviroment!

So, dont be a quitter,Robby! Eat the beef and save the world!

They lost me after "industry officials say..."

Of course they do! That's what every human or other animal abuser says when they are caught. Oh this is an isolated case... oh these were staged...

Having seen many abuses with my own eyes, I actually laugh when I see these monsters falling over themselves to try to discredit footage from their own facilities.

Center for Consumer Freedom, also quoted here, is a front group for tobacco, alcohol, and restaurant industries that has taken on such hot button causes as smoking not really causing cancer, obesity not really being a problem, and any protest being called terrorism.

Again, funny. Sad but funny.

<quoted text> Drew, are you serious? millions killed every hour? 24+ million every day? 168+ million every week? Would that then be in the BILLIONS per year? Or, were you simply getting carried away? We are human, we eat meat. Don't apologize for it. Eating meat and the protein it provided enabled our brains to grow and evolve, a large part of the process which separated us from lions and tigers and bears, oh my, and chimps and gorillas too. Nobody wants to see animal cruelty. But nothing is perfect. There are laws governing the livestock industry, a few might try to break the rules, but trying to convince us that lawlessness is the industry norm is assinine at best
No Drew is serious. Across the world, millions of animals are killed per day in the meat, vivisection, dairy, egg, and other animal industries.

Humans are actually primate omnivores if you are forced to claim a "natural" argument. SO, unless you are a hunter/gatherer without a computer feeding mostly on insects and plants, I'd say your argument is moot.

Do you ever eat out? What if there's one SMALL portion of that meat that isn't cooked? You don't see it, you eat it, you end up paralyzed. It could happen at home too. And not all forms of germs/bacteria/etc can be killed by simple cooking. You cook it one degree under, the meat looks done, but it's not, and you get sick.

Not to mention all the other side effects from eating it, but hey, if you want 3 week old food still in your colon, go ahead.

The Animal Rights waco's would be miffed if it was confined indoors to keep it clean in wet weather, or miffed if it gets muddy by being allowed freedom, OR MIFFED IF THE FARMER WAS CRUEL ENOUGH TO HOSE OFF THE MUD IN "COLD" WEATHER. Their agenda is to intentionally mislead the massive urban population who have no idea about the realities of farming or country life. Their goal is not to make the aimals' lives better, but to ultimatly take away your constitutional right to choice of a balanced diet by making animal protein sources prohibitively expensive with ficticously based feel good legislation. Intentional misrepresentation is a BIG part of their game plan, despite claims to the contrary!
That's a still shot from the video, it's being shown in a newspaper, which means it's not very graphic. Watch the real video on youtube or anywhere else, and tell me it's not abuse.

Democrats skip out on Countrywide vote

http://www.washingtonexaminer.com/opinion/blo...

Faced with a promised vote to subpoena documents on Countrywide Financial's "Friends of Angelo" program, Democrats on the House Oversight Committee fled a scheduled 2 p.m. markup today.

Rep. Darrell Issa of California, the Ranking Republican on the Oversight Committee, had promised to call for a vote at today's markup on whether to subpoena documents involved in the program that gave sweetheart mortgages to at least four Democratic government officials, including two senators. According to the Wall Street Journal, the program might have also benefitted the chairman of House Oversight, Rep. Edolphus Towns, D-N.Y.

Even if it had been ruled out of Order, Issa's motion would have received a vote.

The committee's Democrats simply failed to appear. Republican staffers say they caught them on tape leaving by a back door at 2:35.

Did anyone besides me notice that
1. the article talks about a video, not a photo. Look at the video before saying the cow pictured is OK. Of course the PP isn't going to post a graphic picture
2. the "experts" that claim the video is fake all WORK FOR THE BEEF INDUSTRY. Is that really a fair expert to use? Do you think they'd say it's real? The cops in PA seem to think so.
3. I don't eat meat or drink milk. I'm not vegan, and I don't try to "convert" people. Yet, when I switched, people had no problem telling me how weird I was. People I don't know also have no problem telling me about how I must be iron deprived, lacking in calcium, etc.... I don't ask for their opinion. I've also had people start yelling at me about not eating meat, when I don't know them. It's like they see me not eating it as a threat to their existence. I don't care who eats it and who doesn't, to me it's a personal choice. I'll tell you about it if you ask. But, meat eaters have no problem trying to force it on others.

Of course it isn't wrong. If that is what YOU choose, go for it, you have every right. But you DON'T have the right to force anyone else to be vegan. Your rights stop where mine start. This is what is wrong. By driving farmers into bankruptcy, we will be forced to give up more and more meat and dairy products. It is NOT what I and millions of others choose. And for the record, there was a child that died a few months ago because the parents were feeding the child a vegan diet. Meat has enzymes and proteins and other nutritious values that just cannot be obtained from a vegan diet. Those parents literally killed their child with a vegan diet.
Those parents wern't feeding their child enough PERIOD, vegan had nothing to do with it.

There is not one nutrient, enzyme, etc, that your body gets from meat that it can't get from plant/grain based food. Not ONE. In fact, your stomach doesn't have the proper ENZYMES to break down meat, which is why you still have 3 week old meat in your colon right now.

Meat is eaten simply because we like it. You don't need the "protein" you supposedly get from meat, your body doesn't digest the majority of it anyway. Again, this is from a registered dietician who had been practicing for 20+ years, and that ate meat herself: THERE IS NOT ONE NUTRIENT YOU NEED FROM MEAT, everything you need is obtained from plants/grains. But even most vegans don't eat enough of those, just like meat eaters don't.

The bottom line in all this remains the same. These supposedly big-hearted people need to mind their own business and let people eat what they want. They have a battle on their hands if they think they're going to stop carnivours from eating meat. They don't care about the welfare of animals anyway. That's just the smokescreen they hide behind because they think looking compassionate is the best way for them push their pro-vegetarian agenda. As one of my favorite bumper stickers says, "If God didn't intend for us to eat animals he wouldn't have made them out of meat." My own bumper sticker reads, "Hey PETA, eat my MEATA!"

How else are they going to convince the other 95% of us to adopt their leaf-eating lifestyle? They lost all credibility when they made Pamela "The Skank" Anderson a spokesperson.

I am addressing only one small part of this article, the fact that California voters outlawed gestational crates for pigs. They look cruel bu the alternative is the mother sow crushing all of her piglets inadvertently. I know of a sow that delivered 14 pigs over the course of her labor. She eventually crushed all of the piglets, all 14, despite the efforts of the farmer to keep the piglets safe. Sows are not kept in the crates all day, every day, only until her labor has ceased, and the piglets are large enough and active enough to be out of danger. I overwhelmingly oppose PETA. I too am an animal lover, and I grew up on a dairy farm. I showed cattle in 4-h, and PETA even attacked that activity, saying a dairy show exposed cattle to cruel treatment. Show cattle are the most pampered of dairy cattle, especially among 4-Hers.

The perception now is that ALL vegetarians and vegans want to convert ALL meat eaters, and you have PETA to thank for that.
