This happens more than people think. In fact just happened a few months ago, rapist got off(was arrested for domestic dispute shortly after, was dismissed again)and just had a baby with another girl who has a record of drug and alcohol abuse.
Someone who tried vigilante justice towards the rapist got caught, skipped the country and left someone else holding the bag. Guess who went to jail? You got it! Someone who never saw any of it coming because he believed in this country and that justice would prevail. Not with the despicable justice system today and prosecutors who want a conviction, any conviction, innocent or guilty doesn't matter.

How about Rush? Jason is kind of irritating, though I value him as the main conservative media voice in minnesota.
With a 25 billion state budget and a billion tax increase this year, I wonder where the money went. I am aware of a lot of state departments that do important things that have had to cut back.
Anyway, its libs running the state, so blame the lefties when your pet cause gets budget cuts.
I'm amazed you can even spell your name you idiot. The last time this state had a Democratic Chief Executive was Rudy Perpich in 1991. Since then the state has been RUN by so called conservatives (that includes Jesse who was more of a Libertarian than most Reprobate Republicans.

Well I guess I better leave MY country since I cannot do jury duty. As the only breadwinner, if I don't work I don't get paid...and my mortgage is not going to wait for an extra month until I get money.
It must be nice to be so "privledged" that you can spout that crap!!

I was on a jury 20 years ago in Ramsey County, and I swore I would never be on a jury again. It was a rape case, and the judge said "Resonable doubt". Well the state didn't prove beyond a reasonable doubt that the guy did it. But, because he wasn't well educated and some of the jurors were, and the girl that was raped was a college grad, she told the truth, and the guy couldn't tell the truth. being one of three people that voted not guilty, the other nine really made life miserable for us, some of the things said to us and about us really got me quite upset. We were told the Judge wouldn't let us go until a verdict was reached, so after a day and a half, for fear of our lives, we finally gave in and voted guilty. But the system is better than nothing I guess.

Us peons have a civic duty and yet our lawmakers continue to undermine the will of the majority. For example: 71% of Californians are against gay marriage yet the California Supreme Court voted against the ban. 64% of Americans want to drill for more oil, yet the Dem Congress votes against it. 61% of Minnesotans are against the smoking ban but it passes anyway. The list goes on and on and on. Whatever happened to "the will of the people shall be mandated?"
That's not in the constitution. Haven't you heard of the term "checks and balances"?

The legislative branch, the executive branch, the judiciary branch and the populous are all supposed to be checks and balances against each other.

The populous wants to restrict rights to a certain part of the population, the judiciary branch sees that a gay marriage ban is unconstitutional (unequal application of the law and the boundaries of church and state being blurred). The judicial branch overturns it.

The populous is against a smoking ban, the health of non-smokers and people who work in bars and restaurants that smoke are affected. The right to health for workers is much more important than a person's right to smoke wherever they want. The judiciary branch decides against that.

However, high gas prices are crippling our economy, the Democrats vote against drilling for oil. They're going to be checked (If the population's smart enough) by the populous.

You should have learned that by now. Hell, I learned that in high school.

So, you want rule by judicial decree, not rule by the people.

What's wrong people?

Someone has to pay for the stupid F*%&$&^$50,000.00 drinking fountains.

The arrogance of the stupid F(*&^*(^*% Democratic Party in this state and the nation astounds me....especially since all of you LIEberals keep them in office.

Enough with this "poor us, juror pay is taxable" stuff. Juror pay is only taxable on the 1040 if you earn more than $500. If that happens (and it almost never does), then the state sends you a 1099 and you have to report it. No 1099, don't report it. Done deal

What makes you think that? There is no minimum amount that you can make and not report it. Just because you do not receive a 1099 Misc. form does not mean it is not reportable. Call the IRS at 1-800-829-1040.

This is not what happens. Instread, the only ones on the jury are those who are retired or not gainfully employed.

I am a lawyer and know that getting white, middle or upper class males on the jury is the exeption, not the norm. The white guys are too busy working to serve, so its mostly retred people and the unemployed or students who actually serve on the jury..

I seem to recall reading that after the big tobacco trial that took place in MN, several of the jurors ended up having to file for bankruptcy. That really sends a positive message to prospective jurors. In exchange for doing their civic duty, jurors can have their credit rating destroyed. I had to do a 7 day stint on a jury. My employer will cover my the difference between my whopping jury pay and my salary for the first 10 days of jury duty, but if goes over 10 days, I am on my own, so needless to say, I was getting a bit apprehensive as we neared day number 10. I would hate to say that something like that might influence how I would vote on a jury, but I honestly hope that I am never put to that test.
