so they come and take opportunity to commit property damage to corporate property. in my case it would be a hilton hotel hosting a lot of the deligates where my wife works. she's the sole breadwinner in our neo-traditional home. if they set fire to her workplace she could lose her job, end our income and cause us to lose our home, ability to buy groceries and feed/shelter our family. how on earth does that help the human race? destroying people's livelihoods and means to support themselves and their loved ones seems counter productive, misguided and selfish. it seems to me all they care about is themselves. i'd like to continue to put food in my child's mouth and make sure he has a warm and safe place to live. if it comes between that and their "civil rights" i wouldn't mind the police putting a bullet in their heads the moment they start their reign of terror. some things ways simply better at dealing with these things in yesteryear than this soft approach we have today. if people want to protest that's their peroggative though i have better things to do with my time. but if someone is bent on property damage and violence give it back to them in kind with the kid gloves off!!!

This article is designed with intent to instill fear where their is none and malign the legality of civil disobedience. The city of St. Paul is well protected by overactive officiers who live in the suburbs and work in the city with the sole intent of beating into submission the likes of people who are not like them.

Civil disobedience IS illegal, protest is legal. There should be fear of these nut jobs breaking laws, hurting people and breaking things because it is their SOLE PURPOSE for being there. These nut jobs aren't there to share their views, they're there to FORCE their views on others. There's nothing righteous, there's nothing patriotic, and there's nothing RIGHT about that cause. Every one of the nut jobs who come here and PLAN on breaking laws should be charged under RICO laws and put away for a long time. It will teach the leaders of these groups that people are tired of the arrogance that comes with planned "anarchy" (which is exactly what it is). It's time to take the gloves off and take a stand for CIVILization. If St. Paul's got to go down in history let's make sure it's for being the city that stood up to the thugs, not for being yet another city that put up with this spoiled brats.

Like President Bush said once upon a time: "Bring it on!" On the other hand, there's the words of Cole Porter: "There's no business like show business!" Either way, at least we won't be rolling up the sidewalks at 5pm and people will spend money here. That's what really counts. We'll all be rich and that's what St.Paul is all about.

"These nut jobs aren't there to share their views, they're there to FORCE their views on others..." But enough about the Republican agenda.... Seriously, would we see such agitation if we hadn't had nearly eight years of trashing the constitution, environmental destruction, looting of the treasury, unprovoked war, torture memos, extraordinary rendition, warrantless wiretapping, unchecked predatory lending, and a host of other GOP policies that are at odds with what most people see their country to be? People are mad.

WOW...if I edit your comments like Faux News does....You could be talking about the delegates...... BTW..Over here in St.Paul, we really aren't savoring the idea of having the radical wingnuts marching in the streets...

We like the tone of desperation in the article. "We're not just some organized hog wallow north of Iowa! We're a big city just like Seattle!". Nothing like a little publicity about "anarchists" to entice more "media" to descend upon us. We predict an increasingly hysterical tone on the editorial page, too. This fine newspaper is in a delicate balance as this may be the most important event since Archbishop Ireland cast out Pig Eye and brought civilization to us. It needs the RNC and it needs miscreants so there can be news. Otherwise, we'll have nothing except those advertising supplements which fall out of the newspaper when you open it, thus creating a fire hazard on the floor of the room where you're reading it. No chaos, nothing to justify being called a "newspaper". By the way, is there any truth to the rumor that Blackwater Security will be supplementing our local law-enforcement agencies? If Tom Walsh knows, he isn't talking and Bob Fletcher is increasingly preoccupied. Does the City of Saint Paul have liability insurance for the possible collateral damage if Blackwater Security brings it's expertise? Anyone who doesn't laugh at this newspaper and our elected and selected officials has a heart of stone.

Maybe some "Big Oil" people and some Masons.
