Didn't it used to be hard to become a police officer? I mean, you had to have communication skills, people skills, and hopefully some good judgement?

What happened?

If this is the way a law enforcement official is going to react to a personal complaint against them who needs thugs and gangbangers?

Stay classy, Scott Mars and William Thornbury, stay classy.

Fire them, convict them and never let them touch another firearm as long as they live.

Isn't discharging a firearm out of a vehicle considered drive by shooting? That's the way I've heard it. Means felony charges, forfeiture, and some hefty bail money. Oh I forgot, these are off duty officers. New rules!

back to the wild west! Showdown duel at high noon! I bet these two morons couldn't hit the broad side of a barn; we should consider ourselves lucky that they screwed up like this without anyone getting hurt as five will get you ten they would've ended up in some on-duty fiasco soon or later

They should add Felony DUI for Mars... Career killer that is... He was twice the limit and driving for god's sake... These are two of the idiots we trust to make sound judgements and keep us safe... They must work on the near north side.. They're mostly all cowboys over there anyway...

They'll definitely fight to keep their jobs, this is the most arrogant band of ragtag cops in the state..They will find an excuse and try to circumvent the law the way they do when they police us... They are pros at this no sweat..

Good! Those are two cops we definitely don't want on the street. I've had really mixed results in my dealings with Minneapolis police. Some have been very friendly and respectful, but a few (like these two brilliant specimens) have acted like rabid dogs. I'll never forget the time many years ago when a MPD officer pulled my friend over for "failure to yield" even though he didn't have his lights or siren on. My friend (who had done nothing wrong) sat there saying "I'm sorry, sir, I didn't see your lights or hear your siren" as the cop's face was beet red, screamed at us at the top of his lungs, accused me of being a prostitute, threatened to bring a dog to search the car. I'm not joking - we had done NOTHING wrong, and I certainly am not, nor have I ever been a prostitute, nor did we have any drugs or weapons in the car. We were just driving along and happened to be in front of this maniac. I was raised to respect the police... but there definitely are bad cops. They need to be stopped so that the good ones can do their job.

Every career has its bad apples....and these two have fallen far off the apple tree. I'm glad they will no longer be representing law enforcement.

I've always had positive police contacts, and I feel bad for all the other great cops who work hard to do their job professionally, ethically, and justly. These two leave a sour taste in my mouth!

I concur. Get the bad apples out of there. I have a lot of respect for our law enforcement in general, and people like this tarnishes the entire field.

It takes one bad apple to spoil a bunch, the department is getting progressively worse with Chief Tim Dolan who was NOT qualified to take this job and he's proving it. Leadership comes from the top, there will be more problems because the air stinks over there..

What has this world come to? Aren't Law Enforcement Officers supposed to be above the law?

If they'd have been smart, they would have hit somebody and planted a weapon; they would've been off the hook.
