I always liked United States Senator Eujene McCarthy. I knew him when I worked on his campaigns in 1968 and 1972. I always felt he should have been President of the United States.

I think he even threw a register-to-vote party. Back in the day the good looking babes were democrats; that seems to have changed. My first choice for great Minnesotans probably would be Charles Lindberg- a guy way ahead of his contemporaries. Second choice might be Lonnie Anderson

I was going to add a name to the list, until I realized that the my choice would "off-set the required balance" between... Red, Yellow, Black and White. Not to mention the "not-a-Quota-but-a-Goal " required by the inclusion of 50% female representation on the list. My reason for posting here is to ask for assistance in finding the ultimate candidate for the list. (World changing accomplishment..... not so much, this can be spun to magnification well beyond its importance) The requirements: Black, Female, Lesbian, Physycal Handicap, Sexual Disease, Homeless, Born "south of the Mason-Dixon Line", Abuse Survivor (allegation is good enough), Gave birth through Artificial Insemination (AI). If you all can help find this perfect "Victim", we can make her a National Hero.(I am thinking a National Holiday, similar to the Black Minister that had a different woman at every town as was preaching in, as disclosed in his best friends book) Then the real 10 great Minnesotans can be listed without the Politicaly Correct folks gnashing teeth and lamenting our Racially Exclusive, Homophobic, Mysogynistic Country. Also media outlets can put her first on any list, covering their need, as we see in the list on the STPP, to be percieved "Correctly"

Whether he agreed with the government is doubtful, but he saw the German military for what it would be, when most others couldn't begin to recognize the threat. He was also a preeminent environmentalist when few others even knew the term. http://tinyurl.com/4prjaj

Here are five great Minnesotans you missed. Over 150 years these 5 certainly rank in the top 10.
1. Cadwaller C. Washburn, Founder of what became General Mills. 2. John Crosby, Also a Partner of Washburn and Founder of General Mills Together they bought a failing radio station that became WCCO, Washburn Croby Company. 3. Charles Alfred Pillsbury, Founder of The Pillsbury Company. The A mill along the river. Without these three, the twins towns are a cold Omaha. 4. William Mcknight, 40 years with 3M moved it to the Twin Towns served as President from 1949 to 1966. Come on, the guy who headed a company that offer scotch tape and post it notes to the world should get some mention. 5. James Ford Bell, President of General Mills. Consolidated an array of small and larger mills into General Mills.

Maybe do research before spouting off on things you clearly know nothing about. I bet your opposed to even talk of a new Vikes stadium but would be first in line to criticize Pawlenty when they leave, due to lack of a stadium.

He wanted nothing to do with the mess Europe created. Things sure change...

And from the sports world you chose George Mikan, I would suggest Bernie Berman who really put Minnesota on the map. As Coach of The Gophers they became Golden.

How about Charles Schultz? There have been many, many great Minnesotans. Great in their perspective fields anyway.

He and his inflated can go back to Europe. I still remember his cutdowns of Minneosta when he left. Too bad he crawled back. Minnesotans forgive and forget too easily.

Actually, "Giuseppe", it's you who should do research. Look up the history of Carl Polad's and Frank Osana's roles in the demise of Twin City Lines and Polads eventual sale of the near bankrupt company to the Metropolitan Council. It will make you sick.
