This kid is in for a long life in the system, it won't take long to be institutionalized, then he'll just live life locked up for free. It's a good thing to get this sick little piece of trash off the streets, too bad we can't ship these criminals to some third world country for their prison sentence.

He has no mercy for any one that got in the way of his bullet. To bad that Minnesota won't let us push him in front of a train to let him see what it feels like to just catch the 5:00 to no where

Burrell is a victim of a racist and unjust society. His involvement in gangs is a direct result of him being disenfranchised by the majority population. He was acting out of this frustration.
His sentence should be commuted in the name of justice. Then, we should take a good hard look at the justice system that is stacked against minorities. Where is the Reverend Wright when we need him. |

Huih? |

Twice convicted - you did it now man up!

I'll only go so far as to say he got what he deserves. Well, that and it's a shame that Minnesota can't be like Arizona and bring back chain gangs. We could certainly gain somthing in exchange for all the fine dining and hospitality Myron's going to be the recipient of.
Of course here in Minnesota jailed men file lawsuits to stop construction crews from disturbing their rest. |

People are weary of selfish gang-centered behavior. I personally am also weary of excuses like poverty, lack of education and single parenthood. I could easily use any or all of those reasons for failing at life, but that's not how I roll. I'd rather live a productive, healthy life and be an agent of positive change. We *all* have a similar choice: Will we lead destructive, toxic lives or healthy, productive ones?
Have a lovely time in prison. Perhaps you'll use the time to reflect on choices and consequences in your own life and the life you stole. |

What a piece of crap. He STILL wont accept responsibility. I hope he rots in prison. I hope the family of this little girl is able to move on. What a terrible waste.

Are you kidding me? Your title should be Misguided Liberal, or better yet, My Head is Stuck in the Sand Liberal. I'm just going to guess, but are you this guys new cellmate? Only somebody that has spent there life breaking the law would speak the type of trash you just uttered. You sound just like this guy. He still hasnt accepted responsibility for what he did. |
|
You've got to be joking, he murdered an innocent girl. Justice served. |

First, Emily Grunon, the writer, please have some tact. "when she caught a bullet meant for one of Burrell's gang rivals." Your writing for the PP not the Onion.
Second Myon. BAahahahahahahah. I bet your really wondering why you listened to your lawyer to appeal? Nice call. |

Inmates in MN actually do a lot of work for the state, even when they're in prison for murder. While inmates at workhouses/minimun security places do work on crews outside their facilities, MN institutions also have contracts with other companies for the production of goods...and then there is also MINNCOR... the DOC website for MN has this info. So contrary to what most people think, many of the inmates in Minnesota actually don't just sit around all day and do nothing. |

Dude, seriously. Of course they were kidding you. As a liberal, I find it hilarious that you would think this was anything other than tongue-in-cheek by one of your fellow conservatives. Liberals share your view that the guy should be behind bars. |
St Pauly Girl, You are right on the money. Thugs like this deserve to be stripped of their citizenship and sent to Russia to spend their time. The plus of this is that his incarcaration would cost us way less. |

Everyone should jump to the opinion page and read Leonard Pitts' article on why blacks mistrust our judicial system. They are being picked on, ya know.

Thanks, but I can speak for myself.
Burrell has been disadvantaged from day one. He was never given a fair chance in life. If we forgive him and give him all he needs through taxpayer contributions, he will succeed. This is the essence of my core beliefs as a liberal, provide for the victims of the world through the kindness of government. Try it, compassion feels good.
