A funny thing happened on the way to the altar

Full story: TwinCities.com

Talk about making an entrance. The bridesmaids had pretty summer dresses; the groomsmen looked dapper; and the bride wore white.

"Mom ... what was special that you and dad did for your wedding?"

Those are some hip Lutherans and no one who attended will ever forget that wedding. Congrats to Kevin and Jill and may the same kind of joyful craziness keep them laughing for all the many years (and jokes) yet to come.

With a budget of less than $15,000, Peterson said the wedding was more about celebrating their life, family and friends than having a fancy reception

The guy that married this gal should have read the fine print, because if she thinks spending ONLY $15,000.00 on a wedding is miniscule, wait until he gets the bill for decorating her nest.

This is one of the coolest, most fun and original things I've ever seen! I smiled and laughed throughout this video, made me cry tears of joy!

Thank you, Jill and Kevin!:D

uhhhmmm folks, Jill and Kevin paid for THEIR wedding.

The church and pastor approved and unless you go to that church and belong to the liturgy committee, it's none of your business ... even if they wish to schottische down the aisle in bunny suits. Besides, it's only an entrance tune and nothing officially religious happens until later. And I bet it broke the bride and grooms' tension.

Back in the day, all the stuffed-shirts thought Mozart's music was much too demonstrative and emotive for Mass and called it worse names than that. And now we love his church music, and I esp like the Requiem.

Grow up people, this is taking place in God's house. This is the kind of "cute" thing that you do at the reception, NOT IN A CHURCH! Have some respect!
You beliefs are exactly why no one enjoys going to church that is under 30. Heck, I bet you sided with the parents in Footloose too....maybe just maybe if you had more fun in your life, you wouldn't be like this.

We spent about that on our wedding, and we had deals in the family for the music, cake, and pictures.$15,000 isn't much, unless you only have 25 friends and family. And my wife is cheaper than I am.

I agree! Ever been to a Baptist church in the south? These people really get 'praising' and joyful!

What a great video.

Not in God's House? Wow. You honestly have no clue how to act in God's House if you believe that. In my opinion, this showed a real praise of God that is lacking in many people's lives. A praise of God's world and the bodies we're given and the life we have. It was a celebration of life. I loved it. For all you know, the Lutheran wedding liturgy was followed to the letter. There's nothing in the ELW about the entrance. Only that there IS one. And this was theirs. Good for them!

It's revealing that some folks have to post disparaging comments on this story. I'm sorry that you're so uptight and lonely. It's hard to watch others enjoying life while you are not.

Great job to the whole wedding party!

I can't believe how crabby and mean people are. Lighten up already. What did they hurt? They were having a little fun!! There was nothing sacrilegious about it.

Psalm 149:3
Let them praise his name in the dance: let them sing praises unto him with the timbrel and harp.

I'm sorry, I don't usually respond this way, but it must be said. Richard, you have no idea what you're talking about. We are all dumber for having read your response to what I posted. No points awarded this round and may God have mercy on your soul. ;-)

lonny, I'm guessing it's been a while since you planned a wedding.$15,000 is not all that abnormal in Minnesota. It's about what we spent and our wedding was anything but lavish. It was nice and I didn't wish we'd done something more, but we didn't do anything particularly crazy either. As for dancing, well, what did you want to see? I'm guessing that since you aren't on every major network, America doesn't really agree with you.

head cheese, where is it written that church should be a solemn place? I thought church was a place to praise god with all of our faculties. I'm pretty sure I'm right on that one.

Every time I read these mean comments (Lonny's, head cheese's, etc.) I become more convinced that there are LOTS of unhappy people in the world, and their stated goal is to spread that unhappiness far and wide.
After all, if THEY are unhappy, they want everyone ELSE to be unhappy too.

Guess what, fellas? It's not gonna work! There are all kinds of us who are SO HAPPY that not even your vitriol (look it up!)can stop us. Look at how happy all the people in this wedding party are!

Go dance around a little - you'll feel better.

So Bob, am I to understand you define what cool is? I thought this was cool. Lots of people thought this was cool. You thought it was not cool, so it's not cool. You are the gate keeper! Where is the key master?

jpberka you're just right on.

I can't believe the negative comments, it's just hilarious. You just can't justify, to me, having one bad thing to say about this video.

Looks like a fun wedding with fun people. Best of luck to the bride and groom!

Church isn't always a place to be quiet and reflective and somber. It's also a place to celebrate the gift of life. Each to their own.

This is just unbelievably GREAT! Instead of a standard wedding, filled with nerves and tears, this couple chose to dance their way into their new life together. May they always be filled with joy and happiness!
