Like I've said before, your tune will change once you or a loved one is a victim and you did nothing to stop it. I have been on the receivng end of a few crimes, but I have never been a victim. I doubt you can understand that distinction though. Guns are not the only WEAPONS there are out there.

That's a fact and I would no more try to take your weapon of choice or any other right guaranteed by the Constitution or the Bill of Rights away, but that appears to be a distinction you don't understand.

Guns may not be the only weapon out there, but they there's a good chance they are the most effective. If deadly force is to be used, I prefer to deal it at a distance.

JoJo wrote: Yeah, my Dad was a "criminal". He was an alcholic. When I was 10, in a rage he threw my Mom on the floor and starting choaking her. I grabbed a frying pan and starting screaming and hitting him to stop. Maybe if there had been a gun in the house, he would have just shot her, or me. I supposed you would think that my Mom should have had a gun and just whipped it out of thin air and shot him? Why oh why, cannot you see how in these instances a gun in the house would make things far, far WORSE. There are situations where some people should NEVER have guns, no matter what the hell the constitution says. Some people should never have frying pans. Frying pans should be banned. How dare you defend your mother. You could have killed your father. Then your mother would have hated you. Lord knows she would not accept her own responsibility. Victim me once, shame on you, victim me twice, shame on me.

Have you seen this video about media coverage of gun issues? http://www.eyeblast.tv/public/video.aspx... (Shameless self promotion – it’s from the organization I work for.) But it’s a great video and you should check it out anyway.

That occurs far more than anything you people are talking about. Has it ever happened to any of YOU? Forget the criminals. Ever have a teenager with suicidal thoughts? Instead of taking a bunch of pills, they blow their brains out with the family gun. They have a fight with a sibling, and instead of a fist fight, a gun is taken out. How about a drunken/drugged spouse? How about an adulterous spouse? In a fit of rage somebody is shot. Or do you expect that each person in these situations will be SHOOTING BACK? But of course, none of these things would ever happen because you all live perfect little lives. No wonder this state is so damned crime ridden; nevermind the #2 state in exporting guns used in crimes in OTHER states. And what is your point? New York sending criminals to Florida to break the law?

Welcome to florida a third world loser state that drags the rest of the country with it. And let us not forget who put Bush in the white house and caused so many innocent deaths

MRLOUIS wrote: <quoted text> And what is your point? New York sending criminals to Florida to break the law? Now there is a topic worth discussing. Which state exports the most criminals TO Florida. Criminals from other states or countries for that matter, are the ones who have ruined Florida not the natives. I used to assume it was New York, but since hurricane Katrina Louisianna would have to be up there.

I would think that if you trust a person to enter your home, you already feel that this person is not a deadly threat to you--so what does it ~matter~ if they are carrying, concealed, a personal-protection firearm? If they are a deadly threat to you, couldn't they just beat you with their fists, or rush to your kitchen drawers and take out a butcher knife to stab you? And let's say you DO put a sign on your door that informs them they may not enter with a gun on them. Will you be FRISKING them even when they say, "Yeah, sure, I'm complying with your rule"? Because if you don't, how will you know they're not just okey-doking you, but carrying a gun anyway?! Well said about unarmed/armed vs inviting in the house. I'm officially borrowing that from you.

If, and ONLY if, you owned them prior to the enactment of the anti-frying pan legislation I am pushing for. As well, they had better not have telescoping or adjustable stocks, or non-stick coating. The Teflon makes it easier to wash up the bloodstains. Only a criminal needs non-stick pans. ***end sarcasm**** I like your posts with the links and data to back things up. Hey...... I was born (and bred) here in South Florida and, while, on one hand I agree that I'm surrounded by idiots, I've never had a problem understanding a ballot or pushing out my paper chad, ahhh, those were the days, a paper trail....... I think there should be a minimal aptitude test before anyone can vote. If a voter doesn't understand what a representative republic is then they shouldn't be allowed to participate!!! But alas, somehow that would be considered discriminatory, to which I agree, we would be discriminating against the ignorant and uninformed (of all colors and races - including my own). You people just don't get it do you. It's not about violence, people getting killed or even gun ownership. Who is one of the biggest anti-gunners out there...KENNEDY. Who's dad made his money by importing booze from Canada during the probition years...DADDY JOE. All this is about is creating a new black market illegal import product. Booze is legal now, missed out on the drug trade, sooooo lets get the black market gun trade from South America going. As "Pink Floyd" put in "MONEY"

I should have aimed with the ol trusty 22 rifle. I grew up in the Tampa area, have lived in WNC full time since 76. Keep up the great postin, Zig

And you are a judgemental neurotic. That kind of person ? Grow up. Jojo, I sincerely hope you are never the victim of a home invasion, or violent carjacking, or any situation where armed resistance would benefit you. For that matter, I hope I am not party to the same occuring to me. If it does, the difference is, I have a chance. Why do you need to be DISarmed, and have everyone around you as such. If you are an average household, then it is full of lethal implements. I respect your opinions, please respect mine.
