You think we saw an uprising in the last election. Just wait until the losers announce they couldn't agree on tax reforn. Many many will be looking for new jobs. PERIOD. Actually I will not put anyone back in office. No incumbents. Start over. Four year terms.

Oh yeah. Survival. I never have seen republicans so pro big government. Then they stand there and say, I am like Ronald Regan. I am sure if suffering from alzhemers and forget what you voted for. I would fire them all for showing no leadership and putting us all in economic jeopardy. We maybe should vote sooner than that for a recall. |

Interestingly, as a species, we are able to nuke the world 7 or 8 times over and cannot put out a forest fire.
I breathe this mess in Tampa. |

Southern US Forests evolved with fire. OUr forest are too overgrown. These fires are just natural.

It would be interesting to know how much impact these naturally caused fires have on global warming versus man-made impact. It seems to me that 330k acres burning and throwing off massive smoke and pollutants would be a wee bit more of an impact than my Chrysler mini-van.

They may be overgrown in Atlanta, where I'm sure the enviro-whackos have outlawed industry but down here in mid-GA we have an extremely well managed forest system. We also dont have wild fires!! Where are these fires eminating from? A federally owned refuge of course. "Don't cut down those trees, better to let them burn polluting everything and everyone" AND, as a special bonus, you lose the trees anyway- a total waste- as well as all those cute little animals who made it their habitat. I am surrounded by timber on my property, not to mention the timber on some more acres that I own, all for me to sell as lumber when I'm ready. There is no brush anywhere. And Fires? Green trees dont burn, it's the brush underneath that is needed to ignite a wild fire and there is no brush here. Why....? Because people manage their forests! They love their trees, the shade it brings, the fresh air, and they don't want anything overgrown! Why...?Because that's a fire hazard! Greenies who are in love with mis-managed, overgrown nature are doing us all in. |

Sadly, people and governments don't seem to realize that the huge population increase, which continues unabated, has destroyed the water system and Florida is ruined forever. Government has been completely ineffective at all levels! Their greed for more money and power has allowed wetlands to be built over even as the problems were getting more severe. God save us from bureaucrats and ourselves!

For gawd sakes, people, dont you see it's Jeb's and W's fault? The fire all probably started when Gov of GA Sonny Perdue threw a cigar out of a chopper surveying fire already started from a Republican boy scout campfire. It certainly wasn't stared from Cheryl Crowe with one leaf of toilet paper.

Florida put the shrub in office. Georgia is full of neocons and the freaks of the religious right.
Let 'em burn. |

During the last budget year, 464 people in the Palm Beach county's workforce made more than $100,000. About 68 percent of that group worked for fire-rescue.
Fire-rescue workers, like other county employees, receive benefits under the state's retirement system. Benefits are paid based on a person's average total compensation, which is calculated by averaging the five highest years of pay - including overtime. Sid Dinerstein, chairman of the Palm Beach County Republican Party and critic of the county's budget, said it's a widely talked-about "game that's played in every county" that overtime goes to those who are close to retiring and need an extra boost. "That's the scam," he said. "It's a rip-off of the taxpayers." |

We don't. But we aren't trying to kill them. Well, most of us aren't.
