With BSO investigating this overtime scandal, it is all but assured that no wrong doing will be found that can be verified or prosecuted. The woman has resigned from her job and made financial restitution. BSO would have never got her to do that much. This investigation is a waste of taxpayer dollars. If Peggy Moore had just denied the claims, nothing would have happened to her and she would have never missed a day's pay. Moore should have hired David Bogenschutz as her attorney. He seems to be the attorney of choice for crooked government employees in Broward County! She "rolled over" too quickly. Sounds like she may actually have a conscience. All of this grief in her life for $5,780? What a loser!

I agree. She lost a $50,218-a-year job all for an extra for $5,780.

BSO investigating overtime abuse is similar to putting the fox in charge of the henhouse!

Seems as if the Building Official was asleep at the switch and probably out of the office at 5pm sharp every day, so he was unable to personally verify the overtime. But in reality, why bother. The taxpayer funded budgets are always flush with cash - no one will ever miss the money.

Bye-bye to two dim-witted slugs.

I like this Sennello! Nothing like a little muscle to get your point across. Way to go Jim, let's just hope they don't ask about the reasons Peggy was forced out of the Deer Creek Civic Association.

Thievery is rampant everywhere, just look at the Bush regime...privatize everything that you can and the corporatist walk away billion dollar rich. This is what the Iraqi war is all about, and that's just one example. A few examples of what China does to thieving corporatist and buracrats may not be such a bad idea.

Bogenshutz is the man. I know of a Public Works Supv. who was selling city eqquipment to private industry for personal gain. ( pipes, fittings, hoses, etc) and Bogenshutz not only got him off but the employee got a $50k severance package.

C'mon Slantinel! This is old news. I read this in the South Florida Times a week ago. Anyway, this city is a joke and needs new leadership. Wonder if Ms. Moore "shared" any of that money with her supervisor? Think people, why no firings or their pensions being cut off. Where in the hell are the feds? Deerfield is a cesspool of corruption.

There must be more to this. Who else have been stealing overtime? Is this a common scheme in Deerfield where a workers gets extra cash, splits it with the supervisor and everyone is happy while taxpayers suffer. Then what about the kickback from the Founder's Day, Mango and other festivals?

Good old Deerfield. Some things never change. If nothing else, they are consistent.

Sheriff Al, did you tell the county commissioners about your new contract offer of 5 5 5 to the deputies? Who is advising you? The three stooges? First responder raise? What are deputies if not first responders! Sell your soul for an endorsement! Where do you think your going to get the extra 2% raise for each year? Not from the county commissioners, maybe from the contract cities like pompano! Four more months and bye bye.

Why did it take Mahaney so long to go to BSO? He tried to quietly make it go away. Only after being told that Elgin Jones had contacted the State Attorney's Office he then contacted BSO, How can you trust BSO after they falsified a subpoena? The State Attorney's Office too. Rumor has it that other city departments are being investigated for overtime fraud. Why is Deerfield Beach so corrupt? David Bogenschultz should open a Law office in Deerfield Beach, I think his firm could make bank just off this seaside town.

Sad, but true. To think of how many overpaid directors/supervisors/etc. in the school board and fire department are getting paid over $100,000 per year and they're doing the same thing. Let's look at their past payroll "discrepancies." I think you'll find it's a LOT MORE THAN $5000.

She gets to repay without admitting guilt?? She stole from her employer. She should face criminal charges. A cashier taking a quarter from the till at WalMart would have to. What a ripoff to the taxpayers. Can't anyone in Florida get anything right? Or is everyone too fascinated that Gov. Crist is engaged. Priorities.

Once again, the Deerfield Beach Parks and Recreation Department is the biggest abusers of time. Just follow Disher and Leone around with a camera. Vince needs to go-- he has no control of that department. From the Mayor on down, they cover each others tail end. Hopefully, our new City Manager gets it cleaned up. GOOD LUCK!!!

This town, Deerfield Beach city hall, really seems to come up in the news on a continuous basis, for constant corruption. You'd think this was a town in Miami/Dade county where the third world types bring their ill-conceived corruption from their home countries to practice here.
So, I dont get it. Why is Deerfield Beach city hall so lost in corruption? I'm reading an Italian name is at the helm. Is this then some kind of Italian mob-run town, like so many town administrators in New Jersey?
Either a town here in South Florida is corrupt because of Latin politicians, or an east coast town is corrupt because of Italian mob influence.
Which is Deerfield Beach's angle on this? There's no Brazilians running city hall so there's no latin influence to blame.
