To help Palm Beach County contend with a financial crunch, Sheriff Ric Bradshaw signaled Monday that he would consider putting fewer nonviolent offenders in jail by using electronic ankle bracelets.

Wow! We only save 60 dollars not even enough for a gas fill up. Thanks to the idiots who voted for this and now look at we have to sacrfice in our county. Just raise the millage rate and be done with it.

You said it! Not to mention, we should have been doing this thing with the ankle bracelets a long time ago. |

The population is decreasing, people are leaving this county; school population is down.
How is the sheriff's budget straining to keep up with the population? Did the sheriff mention cutting take home vehicles(better known as free transportation, free gas, reduced own insurance cost; take family on errands) all the on the public taxpayers' dime? How about a cut in salary for administrative personnel. Salaries are going down in Broward (just like the population). Time for Bradshaw to make cuts. Contracts need to be re-negotiated. The commissioners (even bold McCary and fiercesome Aaronson) were bowing and cowering when speaking to Bradshaw. The hesitancy in McCarty's voice and her choice of words shows that she is cowed by the sheriff's office. The public can not continue to fund the current salaries and benefits. If the sheriff's employees are unhappy with an adjustment please find another in each you can live and work. There are those who will take your place for a reduced salary. 401K need to be placed on the table. Time to STOP penalizing the taxpayers with years and years of payments of pensions on their backs. The public is tired of commissioners who do not cut taxes. The commissioners are keeping the taxes THE SAME, not lowering them. Thank goodness, the legislature is making sure more tax cuts are coming. Weisman must be exhausted with this back and forth between commissioners, staff and agencies. Stop the taxing. Make the CUTS! |

REal punishment. Sit at home & watch TV while feeding your face from the kitchen while having your hommies come over to talk about politics.
Where's the punishment in sitting at home. Keep em in jail where they belong. |

Can't we just deport these people instead of putting them in jail or ankle braceleting them?

It is ashame that many of these men and women are in jail to begin with , because of this many who should be are let go early because of over crowding. Have the jail for people who hurt someone , cause physical personal or property damage etc. And let the homeless who are arrested for open cantainers etc , the drivers who were not in accidents , etc etc either have ankle bracelets or let go as the Palm Beach Jail is poorly managed and nothing but a job creation facility for political cronies.

OK so you want half to people in there to just be let go because they haven't hurt or killed someone. What is the use in having the laws if you're not going to do anything to punish the offender |

I guess now that re-election is on the table. The Sheriff is implementing new tactics, we have to understand that he is protecting his pocket. Would not want to lose it.

we have an ill person in our family and calling 911 brought us the help we needed...there is not enuf help now...how can they cut this particular budge...

There is a difference between "real crime" and rounding up homeless on tresspassing and open container violations becuase you want them out of the city. The jail needs to be freed up for the real crime |

Attention, attention!
Scottsdale, AZ is hiring police officers. Those who are unhappy with the public's sentiments can apply. Re-negotiate salary and benefits no to takehome cars Reductions needed! 401K needed scrutinize contract taxpayers' pockets are empty and the county and municipalities are continuing to raise "fees" let alone what the school board and fire want to raise! |

For a just a $1.00 a day, a child can be feed in Third World countries like Sudan, Thailand, Honduras and Miami.
For $150.00, a fan can have a dinner in the new Yankee Stadium next year. For only $25,000, a developer can buy PBC commissioner vote. For $1.25, you can use the Sunday Palm Beach Post newspaper as a liner for yoru cat bin. For just $20.00, a woman realtor would do just about anything in the back seat of a car. For $500,000 Doanld Trump would throw a party for himself at Mar Largo. As low as $2, you can be killed in the streets of West Palm Beach by a illegal. |

"it would take just two correctional officers to monitor 50 inmates who could be released to their homes or other places in ankle bracelets."
Except a bracelet isnt going to stop these people from committing crimes. People who get a stay in jail arent first time offenders.. they are REPEAT OFFENDERS who continually thumb their nose at the system. Give them a court date? they dont show up. Put them on probation? they continue committing crimes. Dont be surprised when the next person that robs you or burglarizes your home has an ankle bracelet on. It may take only 2 officers to monitor a computer screen, but its going to take DOZENS of officers to go out and find them when they continue committing their 'non-violent' crimes of grand theft auto, residential burglary, theft, etc... |

Bradshaw is still ducking and dodging - trying his utmost to ensure he doesn't cutback a penny on personnel costs. After all, his main responsibility is to keep the deputies happy!
Ric 'The Union Shill' Bradshaw would rather turn criminals loose, back on the streets to continue to victimize taxpayers, than to take a red cent worth of benefits from the deputies. He continues the tradition he started in WPB - when it comes to those who work for him he sees no evil, hears no evil and speaks no evil. AT ELECTION TIME VOTE FOR ANYONE BUT BRADSHAW, DEFENDER OF DEPUTIES AND SELF-APPOINTED GUARDIAN OF DEPUTY PAY AND BENEFITS! Taxpayers be damned!!!! |
