So sad. But thank God for the couple who found them and cared enough to help make a happy ending. Hope Karma is alive and well in Santa Fe. I found it is usually instant.

Thank you for running this story. I hope someone may recognize the dogs and the owner can be prosecuted. I found 2 dogs tied up with clothesline on the Gila National Forest but it was too late for them. They scratched at the ground, trying to get free. I met with Silver City Animal Control and they took a report, but the owners were never found. This is so terribly cruel - what a terrible way to die. I hope Animal Services took a report so there's at least some report on file. THANK GOODNESS this kind couple found them, and thanks to all who helped them along the way!

What kind of psycho leaves dogs to die like that? No matter how hard the owner's situation, there are always options. There is absolutely NO excuse. I hope someone can ID the dogs, give the authorities the owner's name, and that this sicko is fully punished.

Thanks for running this story. I agree with Julie, I hope that someone recognizes these dogs and comes forward with information. I've dealt with many cruelty cases and these people come from all walks of life. One woman worked held a federal job. They look like everyone else on the streets and I wish there were some outward defect that reflects their inner defect. I'm sure these people have convinced themselves they did nothing wrong..but they are ill individuals. My heart breaks because I know for every animal saved there are thousands more that will meet an uncertain fate all because their owners do not have a moral compass. I wish more people would take the time to comment on such things, but thanks for the article.
