A lovely place to spend some time. Especially with binoculars.

What a lovely story. I felt as if I were there, even though I had never heard of this place before. A beautiful addition to a town that I love. Thank you.

I wonder if anyone who reads this article can tell me if Dr. Walton Hawk is still living in San Cristobal, NM.
He is a distant relative: his grand mother was cousin of my great-grandfather.
It would be so nice to converse with him and share some family history.

Dear Katey Ellen Price,

When I last visited New Mexico, in summer 2005, Walton was still living in the pioneer cabin at the Hawk Ranch, but he was sleeping on the afternoon I went to the ranch. I had spoken to him once before, in 1997, about D. H. and Frieda Lawrence staying in that cabin in winter 1922-23, when Lawrence was finishing the poems for _Birds, Beasts and Flowers_. I am now finalising an edition of Lawrence's _Poems_ in which I should like to acknowledge Walton's assistance. Were you able to discover whether Walton Hawk was still alive in 2009? Sincerely,
