It's always sad for the family when someone dies but the good ole patron system in NM politics will far outlive him, unfortunately.

Emilio, my grandfather, did many great things for the community. Including starting a health clinic for the less fortunate. He will live in our hearts forever.

You know what Ambro, I'm sure you are not perfect and Emilio wasn't either, but you probaly aren't from New Mexico originaly either. Emilio was the last of the old school people alright. He fought for the Northern hispanic people, the anglo people that come to New Mexico come in and try to change centuries old customs and traditions from the Acequias to the Fiestas, but, they have to remember that the hispanic people are here to stay and that the anglo will soon be the minority. The Latino vote was a major part in President-elect Obama being chosen. For the record everybody in Northern New Mexico knows for a fact that Emilio never cared for Governor Richardson, even though Richardson always kissed his a** for his backing. Let God be his judge, for every thing he might have done wrong, I'm sure he did right by it twice. After all we are only human.

Emilio Naranjo was one of New Mexico's most effective politicians ever. He always delivered. My grandfather, chairman of New Mexico's state democratic party and a politician, I'm sure would have had nothing but praise for Emilio even though they might have disagreed from time to time. He will be remembered.

My Grandfather was a great man. Let him rest in peace. Any coward can take cheap shots behind a keyboard but can you make a difference like he did? I dont think so.

You know Amrbo, it makes me so sad to know that people like you exist in our world. Maybe it's becasue the "Political World" does not appeal to you, or maybe your to ignorant to keep an open mind about anything. You will live your life fighting what is beyond your control and realize that in times like this, when there is a family suffering, your bitterness seems so childlike and and immature. Sure, I agree you can have an opion, but I have to say you must live a sad life....
Ignore them.... Emilio "era de la jente". I did not agree with him all of the time. But he was one of us.

Today is a very sad day for my family and i. I am Emilio Naranjo, Jr's second oldest. I'm very happy to see my cousins on here. I'm very happy to see that my Grandfather touched so many people. He was my personal hero.

I now live in Charlottesville, Va the Home of Thomas Jefferson who founded the Democratic Party. It is a Blue city. One hour South of me is Lynchburg, the home of the late Rev. Jerry Falwell. I was always disgusted with Falwells hateful views and how he hid behind the bible. When Falwell died I posted online that I wasn't going to tap dance on someones grave because that's just eye for an eye wrong. I received alot of praise for taking the high ground.

Ambro and Whatever you have taken the low ground like so many others. You did this in the most cowardly way, behind a keyboard like my cousin Don said. You tap dance on a the grave of a man who had many family and friends. That grave has not even ben dug. You are entitled to your opinion. But I personally feel very sorry for you both.

As for Governor Richardson, I don't remember too many problems until he started making promises he wouldn't keep. I'm a john Edwards Democrat. I supported John during the primary. I support him now. Let's just say everyone remotely close to Bill Richardson will agree that John Edwards hasn't come near the numbers your 400 pound governor has.

Thank you Grandpa. You are with history now. In a better place. Your family loves you and so does the Land of Enchantment.

Just so everyone knows I'm "From the East Coast". I'll put my name on it. I'm not an ignorant fool who once tried to take over a courthouse. I didn't make up bad cop stories for political gain. I'm not running cocaine and heroin up the valley. I know who I am. My grandfather never had a problem putting his name on what he did.

My Grandfather Emilio Naranjo, Sr. had the power to make you feel good about yourself no matter what your flaws. I'm sorry the flawed individuals posting will never know that.

I'll support the best person for the job and leave family matters in the family. I still think John Edwards "One America" was the best way.

Liz was in remission and has long since forgiven him. thought you would want to know since your obviously the tabloid type.

I don't know what your problems are, but if you don't like the political machine in your area, make change!
We just ousted a racist congressman, elected the first black president and put an end toPlantation politics of Ole Virginia.
This so called political machine was allowed to run by the people. You make it sound it was a shaddy deal with union heads, John Gotti and Smmy the Bull in some Brooklyn social club. Do yourself a favor and never leave new mexico.

Please let our father rest in peace. He loved his family, this state, and its entire people! If you didnít care for him or his views all we ask is PLEASE try to respect the grieving.

I will PRAY to God for those of you not to be judge as you have judged.

God BLESS and comfort all that knew and loved him! And THANK YOU ALL for your prayers and support!

I wish we had more like him. I'm privileged to come from an extended NM pioneer family who trace their roots to Spain only 400 years ago. Others are deprived of my Hispanic heritage; the love, belonging, acceptance, joyous celebrations & respectful observances of passing of loved ones. Our noble heritage of helping others, extolling education, generosity, sacrificial political involvement. I hope we have some young capable caring Hispanic leaders to take his place. That would be the highest honor given to him & those who came before.
