Actually Mr. Goujon, you got your facts reversed: it's the "stimulus bill" that is costing us trillions-need to do a fact check about this one....Why do you jump on Jindal? Somebody has finally come along to reverse the absolute corruption welded on this poor state by long time Democrat rule. If the Democrats have all the answers how come the population of Louisiana is among the poorest, least educated and heavy on welfare and public assistance after all these Democrats have been in control for decades? Seems like the people would be much better off, especially after all the fantastical promises made by Southern Dems. Does anyone else think this is strange? This is the best example I can think of that demonstrates why people are skeptical about the current administration's promise of "taking care" of America.

I'd add the state of Michigan and the city of Detroit as distressed areas. Both long time Democrat run governments.

"Why do you jump on Jindal? " How about because he is a LIAR? that B$ story about him and Sheriff Lee was flat MADE UP!. He practiced that speech. That was not an off the cuff embellishment, a inadvertent mistake, nor a faulty memory. It was a deliberate LIE.

And the fact that little Piyush Jindal is comfortable with the having Druggie Limpbaugh as the titular head of the RepubliCON party sycophant says a lot about his willingness to associate with and defend racists and LIARs.

Roy: Obama said there would be no lobbyists in his administration. And he said "no pork" in his funding bills. I guess those were just off the cuff embellishments?

Hey, Roy- You should know you can't argue with these nit-wits. They're big bags of excrement impersonating intellectual beans. So- How about that Lush Rimbaugh having that lover's spat with Steele? Too funny! Par for the course, for this bunch. I'll just bet Jindal could bee-atch slap that Lush and scratch out his eyes, if he had half a chance.

I think he said no lobbyists in his campaign staff.

But hold on. He's working on the Pigs right now.

A promise not fulfilled is not a lie unless there was no intention to fulfill it. I think Obama's appointments have indicated there was a definite effort to avoid appointing lobbyists. And I don't remember the exact restricitions he self-imposed.

The earmarks were inserted in DUBYA's budget. The $410 billion omnibus continuing resolution isn't his bill; its 5,000 earmarks - 49.9% inserted by RepubliCONs - weren't added under his watch. With everything else going on in his efforts to clean up Dubya's mess I doubt Obama will make the effort to fight Congress over BUSH'S budget bill. Had he not wasted all the time and effort with the obstructionist Repugs perhaps he would have.

We know that (according to Little Bobby) the only reason the economy is in the toilet is because the rich people might have to pay more taxes. Little Bobby has allowed watched the equality of school district finance in LA dropped from 21st to 35th Louisiana ranked 49th and received a grade of D Education Week's series of annual report cards tracking state education policies and outcomes.

Little Bobby is also a rapture-right Hindu who brags about casting out demons.

Obama said no lobbyists in his administration. From http://www.barackobama.com/issues/ethics/

"No political appointees in an Obama-Biden administration will be permitted to work on regulations or contracts directly and substantially related to their prior employer for two years. And no political appointee will be able to lobby the executive branch after leaving government service during the remainder of the administration."

But according to PolitiFact: "Mark Patterson, it has been widely reported, has been named chief of staff for the Treasury Department. Patterson is a former vice president for the financial giant Goldman Sachs , and was registered to lobby there from 2005 to 2008."

Hmmm...Maybe Obama made an effort, but he didn't keep his promise.

it again. That is quite a stretch - nothing like Gail Norton at Interior or Boswerth at the Forest Service and the whole list of people with direct conflicts of interests during the Bush years. I would have prefered a clean break from the Wall Street crowd including Geitner, but it seems like nobody understands that stuff.

"No political appointees in an Obama-Biden administration will be permitted to work on regulations or contracts directly and substantially related to their prior employer for two years."

Will Patterson work on regulations or contracts DIRECTLY? I don't know what a chief of staff in the Treasury Department does.

We see, daily, advertisements etc., that make claims that must surely be false. These ads are constructed to give the impression they are saying something they don't necessarily say. Thus they cannot be sued for deception, which is clearly the end they are aiming for.

Politicians do the same. This is why it is necessary to take a cautious view of what people say.

Therefore, if Obama is deceptive we will only know from the results. He may be. But I think it is a bit early to judge.

Don't you think it is a stretch to call a budget that President Obama is going to sign "Bush's Budget"? If it were Bush's Budget, why doesnt Obama change it?

busy fixing Bush's other 100 messes and the government needs to continue be funded. It has 75% fewer earmarks than when the repugs had congress and the white house.

Absolutely not. Bush proposed it. Based on what I've read, Obama simply has more important things on his plate that to fight the Repugs on last years issues.

Reports say that Bobby Jindal has two very intelligent parents; a scientist mother and an engineer father. Jindal changed his name and religion, to better fit in and be accepted. I guess he is not especially proud of his roots, wants desperately to blend and would sooner bend over and take it for the conservative, obstructionist party.

I have heard that Babe hasn't seen Little Piyush's birth certificate.

I have heard that, were he a Democrat, little Piyush would be referred to as an anchor baby.

I wonder if the Corporate media will give his true identity as a Religious Right ideologue exposure ....especially his experience of 'casting out Satan.' Don't think we've an an self-described exorcist running a state before.

He's considered "one of the family." by Dobson's Focus on the Family & all their permutations.

Louisiana is now being boycotted by a major scientific society, the Society for Integrative and Comparative Biology (SICB), directly in response to Jindal's signing the creationist "Louisiana Science Education Act" (LSEA) in June 2008.

He campaigned in north Louisiana Baptist churches and now uses a state helicopter -- with the taxpayers footing the bill -- to fly back to north Louisiana on Sundays to attend Protestant church services.

Jindal is running Louisiana the way George W. Bush ran the country.

Patterson is a former vice president and registered lobbyist for the financial giant Goldman Sachs. Goldman Sachs received $10 billion in money from the TARP program. The Treasury Dept. oversees the TARP program.

Are we discussing Patterson or Obama?

You implied, at least that Obama lied to us with respect to the employment of lobbyist, as evidenced with Patterson's appointment as Treasury Chief of Staff.

As I noted earlier, if this is a lie, then almost everyone lies, so lets not stop with Obama, but go after everyone that sells anything, preachers who are apt to mislead others with promises of an after life that may or may not be available to them, not to mention Hells, people that manipulate the stock and commodities markets, those, such as Rush Limb--- whatever, that try to push a form of pure capitalism, like it were pure arsenic down our throats with some kind of false ethic that is neither true, workable, or "ethical", and certainly designed to favor the morals of those whose success is best defined as following tried and proven methods of deception.

One the one hand, half-truths and deceptions by so-called conservatives, is necessary for business success, and on the other hand these conservatives believe this sort of behavior trumps the advice of Jesus Christ whom so many claim to believe in.

We cannot have it both ways. Truth is truth whatever program or scheme one is pushing.

I'll have something to say about the constitutional rights of Gay people on another thread later today. The constitution is quite explicit about this.

Have you noticed that comments written here and comments read here, apparently are in different languages even though they are all in English? This is pervasive and it is no different in Washington or elsewhere in the world, although I do thank we Americans have raised it to a high art.
