IT WOULD BE GREAT IF COMMENTS WERE CONFINED TO REQUEST FOR / PROVISION OF FIRE INFO. THANKS.
Here you go...

Smoke is no longer rising from the new fire (above Aptos somewhere, maybe) and the remaining smoke is blowing away.

Pretty chaotic on the scanner right now, there trying to figure what they have and where.
Second fire is on Senda Ladera off of Larkin Valley. 2 structures are threatened, but they think they have protection in place.
for all reading through this forum, please stop and take a breath, let the evidence be thoroughly sorted out. Yesterday, all I heard was that a motorcyclist was starting fires. and someone of interest had been detained. today, we read about a trailer leaving sparks, which they would be unaware of and the motorcyclist stopping and trying to put out fires. plausible, but most important, it reminds us that even what we see may be diffrent tht what we surmise. calming down and proceeding cautiously and thoroughly is what leads us to Justice and not Lynch mobs.

The jumped on the 2 new fires in the Trabing area, and it sounds like they have a handle on them.

Know we just have to wait and see if/where the lightning strikes hit.

New fire in Mt Madonna/Hecker pass area. According to first aircraft over the fire, it's in heavy brush with potential for growing into a major incident.

Also, numerous fires in Santa Clara county just down from summit.

Santa Cruz Native - impressive work on the comment board - thanks. Can you give us a call at the Sentinel when you get a chance? Conan Knoll is working the story tonight and is interested in speaking with you if you get a chance.

I beleive that law enforcement might be protecting a suspect or an accidental fire starter from the wrath of the community right now.
There has not been a statement denying the rumors of a detainment or arrest.
There has not been a statement denying the claim that 911 calls were made reporting arson in progress.
A description of the suspect has not been released to the media. If people reported seeing a motorcyclist lighting fires on the side of the road and he was not apprehended then we should at least have a description of his clothing.
It is also possible that law enforcement is currently protecting the driver rumored to be hauling a busted trailer that showered the roadside with sparks. If this is true, the 'arsonist' seen at the side of the road could have just been a motorcyclist trying to stop the multiple spark lit fires.
If this is the case the trailer driver would need protection too.
P.S. There is thunder and rain on the Eastside right now.
This post really stood out as being thoughtful and ... useful.

You've echoed many of my own thoughts, particularly about the tow and the motorcycle.

I've been thinking somewhat 'on the other side' of you though, that part of the reason so little information has been released is to 'allow' popular support for scapgoating and persecuting the homeless. What did anyone in the Pogonip (or in Santa Cruz) have do to with any of this?

And who is Bobby Hill anyway?

People do realize when the Sentinel stated that animals were trapped in the Trabing fire, this meant they died. Whomever started yesterday's fire should be prosecuted to the highest degree. Shame, shame on him or her.

Laurie, The scanner traffic is pretty crazy right now with all the lightning strikes, but from what I could tell I think they have a handle on it. I don't think that any structures were/are involved, and they set up structure protection very quickly. They were able to get crews from the Trabing fire on it almost immediattely.

THANKS!
I could hear a helicopter in the background when I reached a friend by phone in the area - when they looked out the window it had a dump bucket in tow. Hopefully they knocked it down quickly

Hope someone knows who you are and you are rewarded for all of your efforts since yesterday.

Best regards.
