What a loss for the community. I heard about a hang glider accident during a flurry of fire activity but had no idea this is who it was. I've known Raven since he was about 14 and yea he had the flight bug and wanted to be a fighter pilot back then. My son sat in the back seat of another 172 while Raven was in the right hand seat at the controls with another pilot flying to half moon bay and still remembers that flight.
On a better note, congratulations Raven on your marriage and to you Ray for raising a fine son... |

OhMyGosh, how sad! I can still hear Mr. White saying, "No question is a dumb question. If you have a question, chances are at least one or two others have the same question."
He was nice. |

We saw Dan fly over our house that very day. My daughter of 4 got very excited about the cool "plane". I'm very sad right now and my heart goes out to Dan's wife Catherine. I met dan when I was 5 years old with my mom out at Cabrillo College folk dancing. My mom Barbara and he became friends and my brother Rob and I always loved Dan. What a sweet and smart and funny guy.

With his love for electronics and teaching, Mr. White was part of the reason why I went into engineering. He will truly be missed.

My heart goes out to Dan's wife and sons, Chris and Allen.
I met Dan when he was an adult leader in my old Boy Scout unit, Watsonville Troop 599. He was one of the adults whom I turned my 11 y/o son over to become a scout. Dan proved to be an outstanding role model and knowledgeable in just about any subject. He helped guide and shape my son into a young adult and an Eagle Scout. I truly enjoyed our camping trips with the Scouts where our adult patrol could help the kids but also enjoy some great meals and conversations together. Dan's quick wit and easy smile always made our outings enjoyable. We will truly miss this great guy. |

I saw this guy flying over Corralitos on Saturday afternoon. I was thinking how great it would be to be in his seat- it was so beautiful out and the smoke from the fires had blown away. Seems like he left this world a little early, but at least he had a very beautiful last flight. For someone who spends their life loving flying and electronics- what a way to go out!

"Mr White" provided my sole inspiration to pursue a career in electronics, which has served me well.
God bless you Dan, you will be missed. |

I immediately recognized the name of Dan White because my daughter spoke so affectionately of him while a student at Harbor. I can't say that I would have recognized any of her other teacher's names but she always had a smile and was anxious to tell about some fun activity they did in Science that day. Thank you.

A good guy. My Algebra and Science teacher my Freshman and Sophmore years. He had a great influence on me. I later went to college and became an electrical engineer. Wish I could have thanked him for all his work before he passed on.

While attending Harbor High, I had Mr. White for several classes including Science and Drafting. He was a wonderful teacher that made difficult subjects easy to understand.
Mr. White- we will miss you and your wonderful sense of humor. You always made class enjoyable. To Mr. White's Family- I am so sorry for your loss. I hope it brings some comfort to know that after all these years, Mr. White's students still remember him fondly. |

Mr. White, you were my favorite teacher at Harbor.****, I'd sad to see you go and my condolences to his wife and family. 20 years after my graduation (in '77), I was teaching a computer class at Cabrillo. He was one of my students, and he remembered me. That was so cool. We laughed about the time I shorted out the electrical socket on my table, and he said the scorching marks were still there. He recalled that I was the only one that ever got one of his toasters working ;-)
Mr. White, take flight, reach for the stars!! |

Dan White was my favorite teacher at Harbor, and a major major inspiration in my life even before high school when he was my brother's high school teacher, a good friend to both of us who still kept in touch 15 years later. He told me how to build the Tesla coil that won me third place in a junior high science fair (you ask me I was robbed, but the judges were terrified of the thing). He was practically family as far as I'm concerned. Always friendly, a bit of a goofball, and always eager to help his students and inspire them.
Very sorry to see you go, Dan. May you continue to be such an inspiration in the next life. |

Mr. White was among one of the THE best teachers at Harbor that I had the privilege of learning from. He instilled in me an interest in science and specifically electronics. I even made a little money in his class by doing other students projects. I think he knew that, as he always complimented me on how well my circuit boards were and the fact that I had more experience with nail polish. ;o) He did have a great sense of humor and could crack the worst...but best jokes you'd ever heard, sometimes even at his own expense. I was so saddened to hear of his passing. My thoughts are with all those who hold him dear. He will always have a special place in my memories. R I P
