Homeowner Property Tax Assessor Corp.
EXEMPTION INFORMATION & PROCESSING

The above company has sent my mother two letters requesting an AMOUNT DUE:, the fisrt was for $39.00 and the second letter she recieved was for $49.00 STATEMENT DATE May, 28, 2008.
Things I to a look out for, and noticed:
1. We live in San Bernardino County, not los Angeles County
2. No phone number every TAS Assessor has a phone number that can be called in case you have questions right?
3. The Tax Assessor APN # is a public record, it is the PROPERTY DESCRIPTION, and it may show the Address of Dwelling.
4. My husband and I just got added to the GRANT DEED and I have already sent the CLAIM FOR HOMEOWNERS' PROPERTY TAX EXEMPtion.
My mother has informed me that on a monthly basis she has been recieving this letter.
We all need to do someting about this and shut the above company down!

We received one also, dated December 28, 2007. Somehow it got lost in a drawer "unopened". I found it today, immediately opened it & my heart sank when I thought we had been offered an exemption & didn't file it on time. Asking for SS# alerted me to check online and, sure enough, a scam. It sure looks official & their return address on the card is P.O. Box 179, Santa Ana, CA 92702. Isn't it wonderful to be able to push a few buttons on a computer & have access to valuable information like this?

I got one too, dated July 22, 2008.

The letter was asking for $59 for the 'exemption service' and 'valuation service' they have apparently provided. As is consistent with previous posts, they provided no telephone number and an return address of P.O. Box 532589, LA 90053.

I'm not going to send any money, but can they keep harrassing me? I would like to report the to someone. But who? Why is this company still in operation?!

Many yeasr ago I did use on of these mail compnaies and they got may taxes reduce by about 1500 dollars a year in the late 90s. I was thinking about doing it again and saw these comments. Are all these companies scams or are some real services. I don't have the time to go to hearings with the county to fight for lower taxe and the county just raised my taxes again for next years assessment.... are any of these compnaies any good?

ive tried searching for this company and nothing came up thank god i stopped my dad from sending it with actual money
My dad also received this letter and it looks very official. I was alittle unsured because I tried calling them to find out more information and there is no number to call them. I went online to do some research and I am glad I found this website. I can't believe this happened to so many people. We should defenetly do something about this. Thank God my dad did not sent any money. Thanks for all your help.

I too received something from Homeowners Tax Review and they did such an awesome job reducing my property taxes. I had called the county to get their opinion of the company and of course they don't like the idea of having a company be paid for a job the county should be doing for the people. Homeowners Tax Review staff were so friendly and helpful. I would pay $95 again in a heartbeat to that company to not have to deal with the deadbeats who run my county.

Hi everyone, suck for all of us who already sent our ss# and signature. Rather than they having our valuable information, the most important part is the payment. These thief know that noone will send cash through mail. So the victim will send check. It may only cost $55 dollars. But did you know that when they cash your check, they can first alt the check amount by using a magic pen eraser. Then when they cash the check, they show the bank a proof of business and invoice, plus your APPROVAL that you recent signed to accept their service.

If you have a good bank, they will ask you is it ok to cash the check. If it couple of hundred, usually a bank will just process it without consulting with you. Its never too late TO PUT A STOP PAYMENT ON YOUR CHECK!!!

I received this letter in Texas and I have sent in a check and I am now horfied that I may become the victim of identity theft. They actually placed a clal to me yesterday asking me if I owned other properties and said I was due a refund and that it would be sent to my mortgage company since they escrow taxes. I have refinancinced my house since this time period and they have no idea where or who to send a check to . I was about to call Travis County when I looked at the letters again and realized they are not with the county at all. Now what? Who do I turn to fo file a complaint and do I need to alert Travis County regarding my taxes? Any help from anyone who has already sent in a check would be appreciated.

I didn't give them any money, but I actually thought the card was from the local tax office, and I put my social on it and sent it to them. How can this company continue to operate when the Consumer Affairs and everybody else already knows they're a fraudulent operation??? How many complaints do they need to receive?
We too gave them are SS and signed the card. I'm so mad at myself for falling for this. Have you seen a suspicious activity on your credit report? I didn't send the money because it finally hit me, it might be a scam. I'm more concerned with the identity theft than the $25. What actions did you take to resolve this or has it been resolved?

Thanks.

I signed the form received a few weeks ago assuming this is from the county property tax department. I Just received a letter asking for $59. I'm not going to make a payment for this. But will this be sent to credit bureaus and affect my credit eventually? Anthing thing we can do at this time?

Thanks!

I received a letter from the PROPERTY TAX ASSESSOR RECORDS Corp at PO Box 140754, Austin Tx stating that my address qualified for a 2007 tax exemption and if I sent in a one time processing fee of $49 they would process the application. There is no phone # where I can verify the onformation and the name on the letter is John Fife Chief Operating Officer. I know that this a scam, should I call the Better Business Bureau?

It was one of those days I guess. I had not filed for homestead yet. While paying bills, i ran across their letter and thought "just get it over with". Didn't even realize it said it was from Travis co. tax assessor, wich is not the county i live in. Didn't find out about the scam utill after two weeks later when i saw the endorsement,"online" , on the check. It said nothing about my county or Travis co. So IF ITS NOT FROM YOUR COUNTY RIP IT UP.
