Police today released the name of an 18-year-old man who was arrested in connection with an alleged fatal assault that took place near AT&T Park Friday night toward the end of a San Francisco Giants home game.

San Francisco police spokesman Neville Gittens said some type of argument broke out at about 9:45 p.m. and that San Carlos resident Taylor Buckley punched an 18-year-old Redwood City man in the head.

The victim fell to the ground, striking his head on the pavement, according to Gittens. He was taken to San Francisco General Hospital with life-threatening injuries.

Gittens described the area where the assault occurred as outside the ballpark, just behind centerfield and near the ferry terminal. Details about the argument were not immediately available.

Officers arrested Buckley at the scene. He initially faced charges of aggravated assault, posted bail and was released, Gittens said.

However at about noon Saturday, the victim died from his injuries at the hospital and homicide investigators obtained a $1 million murder warrant for Buckley, Gittens said.

Calls were made to Buckley’s family and, at about 9:30 p.m. Saturday, he turned himself in to authorities at the Hall of Justice, Gittens reported.

The San Francisco medical examiner’s office has not released the victim’s identity and an investigator said today the body remains at the hospital.

No other information was immediately available.
Another dumb ass move that ruin Taylor Buckley's potentially great future all in the name of an offensive "false defense."

I guess Neville Gittens dipped his new tea bag and allegedly assaulted the wrong cup of hot water and it was stronger than he thought. He too, ruined his own great future!

Neville Gittens is the SFPD rep. What are you talking about? As for the post regarding Taylor Buckley, what was he under house arrest for? Hopefully, teens will consider possible outcomes before being so foolish, not to mention likely consumption of alcohol.

I was at this game and another Friday night game. The bleachers are a Friday night hang out for teens who want to party. They don't watch the game, they just drink and act out in front of their friends. Their parents should watch the game on TV and ask them about the game. They won't know anything about the game. Better yet some parents should ride on the CalTrain and see the kids dringing it up on the way home. A lady on the train said it is like this every Friday night. The SF Police had to carry one drunk girl out of the bleachers Friday night.

The whole situation is an absolute tragedy, regardless of what happened. Fact is, two young lives should not have ended this way (yes both lives have ended at this point), regardless of the angry posts above.

I know Taylor and his family. They are good people and Taylor is a good kid. He did what millions of teenage kids have done since there have been teenagers. This is every parent's nightmare.

This is such an unfortunate incident and it sadly has ruined the lives of two young men who seemed to have promising futures.
Is this murder? No. I hope parents use this story as a teaching point for their kids to help them understand the potential impact of their actions.
So sad.

Other millions of teenagers do NOT hit anyone because they know it can have grave consequences. These two exhibited nothing more than gang behavior, but admittedly, paid too high a price.

I apoligize to Officer Gittens, the public information officer. The alleged suspect was Anthony Giraudo according to The Daily Journal. I copied the wrong name to transfer to my posted error!

Newspapers make corrections all the time. It looks to me that Weak Tea did make the correction before your post Peninsula resident!

Apparently, at least according to you, if you are the murder victim, you are also the "suspect"? That would then make you the suicide victim wouldn't it?
