Teen in grave condition after near drowning

A 19-year-old man was in grave condition Sunday after being pulled from the bottom of a swimming pool.

If they were stupid enough to take him to Health Central, he might as well drowned. That hospital is terrible.

How does a 19 year old nearly drown?

I was at a pool party today for the birthday of a 1 year old- I was so impressed at how the adults stood by the pool, watching their children.

The oldest in the pool was about 9, and yet their parents stood there watching, for hours.

Something else must have happened- I'll wait to hear more details before I understand.

My condolences to the family in this horrible tradgedy.

It could have been the drain. I hope the kid makes it. Very tragic.

It really hurts me to hear about such a tragic story back at home while I am here in the Middle East serving my country with my unit in the US Navy. No matter what so long as someone is in the pool, someone should be around to watch them in case of trouble.

It is true that the majority of people who do not know how to swim are black. This is why Volusia county YMCA this year has tried to encourage African American families to get their kids swim lessons at reduced cost. Personaly my two kids 7 and 3 are taking lessons this summer private and group. This is Florida there is water every where if someone can't swim they need to move somewhere cold then.

This young man is my God brother....and just to inform you he was a good swimmer who desired to join the Navy, and was attempting to rescue a 10 yr old child who could not swim. As a Registered Respiratory Therapist I and anyone else with half a brain knows that regardless of how well you can swim, if you are not properly trained on how to rescue a drowning victim, it is very possible that you yourself will be pulled under as well.
I am appalled with your insensitive and and ignorant comments, however I will pray to God on your behalf for forgiveness and hope that nothing like this happens to you or anyone else in your family.

Hopefully, this young man will recover. It is sad that the jerks who write here tend to want to jump to erroneous conclusions about stories that don't concern them.
A logical person would realize that a strong, young person would not end up in the pool like that unless something extraordinary happened. I had thought that it could be a medical problem, drain malfunction or problem trying to get the young kid out.

ok well you say how does a 19 yr old drown??? Brandon was a life gaurd he kne how to swim.... now Brandon must have hit his head or the little 10 year old was fighting really hard ok??? Brandon is now dead bcuz no body noticed he as at the bottom of the pool... all of yall that comment negative stuff need to shut up cuz yall dont kno him or the story... dag
