Arby's owner buying Wendy's for $2.34 billion

The owner of Arby's said today it is buying Wendy's International Inc. in an all-stock deal worth $2.34 billion that comes after the burger chain's board rejected at least two earlier offers by the company.

I didn't think that Sears would buy K-Mart either.

Dang right, Dave would be mad....He left you in control and you ran it into the worst resturant......I Love Wendys or did, now everywhere I go it is a dirty unmanaged resturant with just OK food.

I remember once I was at Wendy's and there was no tomato on my sandwich (which is supposed to have it), I went back up to the counter and was told If I wanted tomatoes I had to pay extra, because it was too expensive to put it on ever sandwich. I was so mad, that's a load of BS.

I can't remember the last time I was at Wendy's (or Arby's for that matter). Back in the day I would go just to get a frosty. LOL.

10 minutes after Dave Thomas died, the administration started cutting portions and raising prices.

Arby's isn't well run, but maybe the combined buying power will give the two something better.

Dave Thomas is in Heaven, looking down, and shaking his head in disgust. The company he founded after retiring from sales of his Kentucky Fried Chicken franchises, naming it after he cherished daughter, is all for naught. Shame. Shame. Shame.

That what Kids do when they get their parents estate. They sell it off. Why do you think we have all this land they are building on? The kids are selling it. But then again, they probablt couldn't afford the taxes anymore.

If this means we get Tim Horton's in Chicago soon, this is very good news indeed! Timbits for everybody, it's on me!

Actually in 2004 Kmart bought Sears for $11 billion.

"For consumers, the deal means being able to get appliances and other hard goods at Kmart and more clothing at Sears."

The deal was also supposed to make the combined company, while still operating under their original brand names, more competitive with Target and Wal-Mart.

Wait, what? Is Tim Horton's owned by Arby's? I remember Tim Horton's when I was in Canada, there was a 24 hour one across from our hotel, so we were there a lot. I'm definitely taking you up on the timbits offer! LOL

Remember when Wendy's used to be good?

Now their 'hamburgers' are like dried beef jerky, the portions are smaller, and the service is McDonalds-like in its abysmalness.

Bring back Dave from the dead. Only he can fix it.

Yea when they first hit the Chicago area they were advertised as "hot and juicy" and the burgers really were. Now they're just "dry and nasty".

How does a smaller company like Arby's buy out a larger company like Wendy's? Who the heck even eats at Arby's anymore? The one downtown is always empty, even at noon.
