THe money will go to enrich the political patronage flunkies at the water authority. It is a bastione of cronyism and corruption.
By the way, notice how we can post on this messgae board but strangely there is no entry for the Suffolk workers bill article. Newsday has realized that the message boards were more influential than their crummy articles. In any case I will post my comments here:
Ricardo Montano tried to block a vote that would have required contractors to verify their workers legal status. This is a federal law at this time but it is obviously not being enforced. The funny thing is he tried to subvert the democratic process through the court system. This is typical of the kind of behavior that you find in latin american countries. They do not trust in the democratic process and want things "their" way. This is a cultural distinction of hispanic government everywhere. Well, just like the illegal aliens - it isn't appreciated here. Thankfully, our laws prevailed and the process is working again. I hope this is a lesson to the people who want the economic benefits of this country. Responsibility and democracy are part of the deal. If you don't like it - please leave.

They should verify the status of the people that work for them. How else do you pay them? Or your quarterly taxes and social security. What if they get hurt on the job, they can then turn around and sue you, the employer. For not providing the proper insurance... it all get's thrown right back in your face....

Maybe the SCWA will start paying decent wages to its non-politically connected employees. Why do you think the lab unionized?

who has been drinking this water and paying for it?? Us ? I hope not.!! they keep telling us the water is safe and then i read about wells being closed because of contamination due to, not just oil companys but from people putting pesticides on there lawns and spraying their trees with toxins. when are we going to get smart and realize that everything we do with posions around our homes inside and out is KILLING us!!! and our beloved pets!!
