Hmmm Must be a reason.
If you've done nothing wrong and have nothing to hide, then why complain? Be greatful!

that's a 50% hit ratio. Don't forget to add in the tickets/citations that were handed out and that 36k quickly jumps to better than 45k |

"ONLY 36,000 TOTAL ARRESTS"??? That's 36,000 potential murderers off the street! Betcha that added up to quite a few saved lives. Keep up the good work police department. |
|
Especially the ones with huge guns!:) |
|
How do you know you don't look like a criminal? |
|
Only if they try to board a plane !!! But that's for another topic. |

Yes, but have you ever been pulled over in Ohio by the OSP, causing many to refer to this state as "The East Germany of the United States". A prerequisite for OSP recruits is (at a minimum) to have their heart removed in a non-surgical procedure as it makes them even more ruthless and "heartless" (yuk yuk) in their minimum 6'4" frame (women too!). |

1 Does anyone think there might be probable cause here ? Or may be it because Osama Bin Obama is running for president ! Where is his buddy the Rev. All when you need him ? |
|
If you want to get critical of someone, get critical of the British. This kind of thing has been routine over there for years, and the police have the RECOGNIZED POWER to stop, question and frisk people at will. Probable cause is not required. On top of that, the average Briton is photographed more than 300 times during the course of a day by the cameras that are ubiquitous, enabling the government to keep the people under surveillance. The British are leading the way to giving up their rights and privacy to a surveillance state, "to purchase a little security." And they have been doing their best to export that mentality here. Look at how many cities HERE now have the cameras up for the police to be watching us all. And what about the policy enacted a couple of years ago where police will ask people to "voluntarily submit" to having their bags checked "at random" when entering the subway?(Of course, people are free to decline to be searched, but then they aren't allowed to make their commute! And anyone with a bomb would just decline the search, turn around, and try another day.) We are reaping the sad harvest of the dumbing down of America. The dumber the populace, the less they know how to guard their own rights, and the easier it is to pursuade them to give up those rights to a government that promises cynically to "protect" them. |

It's your big mouth Mikey but you don't want to admit it because you're in denial! Lose the big chip on your shoulder and shut your big mouth and you'll go un-noticed. The world will be a better place as well! |
I am a blue eyed blonde/silver haired grandma. I was frisked and patted down at MC Arthur airport the last time I flew. The swarthy young man who tried to blow off security in front of me wasn't for whatever reason. But they chose to make me the scapegoat for the gods of political correctness and not to appear like they were profiling so I was patted and groped like a criminal. I didn't dare protest because I did not wish to miss my flight. I think the TSA should get a brain! |

If you look like a criminal, you will be treated as such.
Thank You |

Run...good 4 you...I personally stay away from internet romances, but whatever floats yer boats. I only respond in kind to Denies' blathering posts.
Jimtard...I admit I caught an attitude after being threatened with false arrest, instead of told why I was stopped....but of course you would thank the cops for stopping you for no reason, and offer to fellate them to show your appreciation, right, dipshit? |
|
Hey, Michael..I couldn't agree with you more! We are losing our right to be secure in our own persons and I for one don't like it one bit. A person does not have to be a criminal to resent their bags searched or being frisked. Hey, suppose someone is a HIV patient and has a cartload of medications in his bag? Or some one has a little thing for porn and bought a dirty book (sleazy, but not illegal.) These things and others, should be a person's private business. A year after 9/11 I took my niece to see a Monkees concert at Bald Hill in Farmingville, and do you know, we actually had our handbags searched?! People had to open up their umbrellas and coolers. Ridiculous! |

We have already discussed the Stop Question & Frisk on another post and I see you come here with the same statistics. SQ&F is a tool for the police that has several layers (as you correctly pointed out). It is not an indication of arrests (as I have pointed out). There will always be more people stopped than arrested. Again, I will explain; Police respond to a robbery, get a description, and stop someone fitting that description. Victim does not ID, the person is allowed to leave and a SQ&F is filed. That is the majority of SQ&F. As far as why the majority of those stopped are minority, because a larger portion of those committing crime are minorities. What are the statistics for suspects described as "black males" in this city? I'll bet anything it is way up there. Violent crime occurs more in minority areas, therefore-the police have a greater presence and more minorities are stopped. As for poster "Guilty" and others; Exactly what liberties did we lose since 9/11? Give me detail. |

stop and frisk was always high on the agenda of NYPD law enforcement so after 9/11 when a federal law was passed NYPD politicos were happy unfortunately black and hispanics are the bearers of most cases, poor them that the country is being blamed for being racist but as others have said the majority of crimes are committed in those communities but its a shame that all are punished for the bad apples

What federal law was passed? Did I miss something? |

The liberty to enter a subway, airport or other public facility without being unreasonably searched and seized. The liberty to walk on a public sidewalk without having to present your "papers" to an armed officer. The liberty to be able to review the acts of government without having to jump through hoops, or initiate lawsuits. The liberty to speak, write or post freely in our communications, correspondence and personal writings. The liberty of having a system in place whereby when the government abuses its authorities, the citizenry is informed ASAP.
RPP...Terry v. Ohio, initiated the stop and frisk idea....the NY case, De Bour is the NYS equivalent (although NY holds stricter standards when it comes to being able to deprive folks of their movement, even for a short period of time). Again, RPP, read the AG's report...here's the link: http://www.oag.state.ny.us/press/reports/stop... It's sad when the government (local, city, state and federal) prefers fear mongering to actual safety. |
