You spell his name "Stephen." But, according to the article, his name is spelled "Steven." Is he really your uncle? Hmmmmm. One would think you would know how to spell your uncle's name. Watson, what do you think?
Maybe NEWSDAY spelled the name wrong...Newsday always leaves something out including parts of a story...typos are part of that!

Thats because Harleys are generally ridden by old men, who couldn't handle a "Crotch Rocket" if it was stuck to their **** with glue!!

Lets face it, motorcycles are meant to be, fast and fun, and yes, that makes them vulnerable too..even Harley's are vulnerable, even though they are neither fast, fun or exciting.so why not take the SUV??
( is that why you see so many 'Hardly Worthitson" stickers on the back of ginormous V8 trucks and Suv's??)
We ALL die sometime, sadly, not ALL of us live!!

Wow, "Hardly Worthitson". Did you come up with that useless little tidbit all by yourself or did your Mommy help you with it?

Fun at 120 mph on a public road is not anything but suicide. Back in 2004 when working in south jamaica a gsx1000 doing 120 up springfield just north of merrick was out having fun, when the mother of a minivan blew stop sign. As the crotch rocket split through the van killing the 2nd 3rd year old as well as the 5 month old baby in the back I doubt anyone of them had fun. Sorry but after being on scene finding 3 dead children and the missing front to middle section of a bike since it was now powder as it completely turned to dust and the idiot with out a head.
Sorry I have had those images in my head for 4years now and I don't think I have ever thought of them as fun.
You should not be on a bike on a public road if you are mentally incapable of realizing you are not able to handle it the way it was meant to be in those conditions. You wanna be a idiot go ahead and find a track, you wanna be dumb enough to try that on a public road and Ill be happily the one stand over your body writing the time of death and thanking god you didn't kill anyone in the process, if that luxury would so present itself.

It was and always is Overkill when these Downstate police close off everything when, in most cases, they can push the cars off to the side and let traffic move. This case may have been ugly enough to close all lanes for about 30 minutes.
from what i got from a witness at the scene... it WAS that ugly. i gather cars hit the biker after he went down.

I never know which is stupider, the motorcycle or the person that chooses to ride one? Accidents are guaranteed to happen to two-wheeled vehicles! Why it's even considered newsworthy when some bone-head crashes one is beyond me, IMHO!!!

I think you are stupider. Unless you have experienced it, you don't know what you are talking about. So just stay in your safe cage and hope that you don't get rear ended by a big rig. Because I will be hoping for just that. IMHO!!!

Absolutely true, especially on the LIE. It's like trying to feel sympathy for someone who dies rock climbing. You can't say you didn't know what you're getting into. Yes, cars are dangerous, too. But not even close to motorcycles. Yes, there are very dumb, inconsiderate motorists on the road. But the way to get them to stop their stupid behavior is not to try to stop them with your body. It's a fact of life, like taxes. Motorcycles and the LIE don't mix. Don't try it. Sorry, but that's the way it is. You camn rail about stuoid drivers all you want but it takes 3 seconds to find one on the LIE. It's like wearing a sign on your back saying, "Kill Me."

Acciedents are gaurenteed to happen no matter what the vehicle.
What size SUV do you drive? Hows that 120-160 sting feel each time you fill up and contribute to the wonderful gas crunch we are feeling so you can be spoon fed a army personel vehicle as a must need luxury for the ever aspiring snob.
Do you have that DVD player playing the lastest marketed fad to your brain dead bloated children as your drive around? Since they are genticly lacking and unable to entertain themselves and you are unable to handle them you have to just zone them out to quiet them up as you pop your prozac or dial the next diamond club fill in for a companion.
Its amazing those who openly hate bikers can also be so transparently read.
Before you label anyone as a bone head you should make sure you are not the leader of the brigade.

Say (vividly imagine) anything you want about her but she still has a far less likely chance of having her body run over on the LIE by multiple cars if she crashes.

Thanks Church Lady! Yes, the biker "spirit" showed in that comment! I drive an eco-friendly hybrid. I don't hate bikers, or anyone else. I'm just saying bikes are patently stupid and dangerous. Idiotic. Accidents waiting to happen. A nuisance and danger to the responsible drivers.

In your opinion, not one thing you state is factual, just the opinion of a narrow mind.
My bike still gets better milage then your hybrid.
So now bikes are not responsible. Maybe you should pull up the stats. There are less accidents each year envolving bikes to the amount of bikes on the road then cars to the amount of cars on the road.
You never hear about a drunk biker plowying through a crowd infront of a night club. Yet those repsonible drivers of cars do it all the time.
You don't hear about bikers being charged with murder from DWI accidents, yet again tagged to your so called responsible community.
You have no clue as to what you speak. Those you consider a nuisance think the same about you and your ignorance.

You are so biased it's laughable. Here's an interesting biker story from just three days ago, right on good old L.I. Don't give us that old tired Harley/Crotch Rocket distinction, either.

A Long Island man who flipped his finger at a police cruiser and then popped a wheelie on his motorcycle is recovering from injuries after crashing.

Suffolk County Police said Frank Patti, 26, of West Islip, rode by the police car at a service station in Copiague at 7:30 p.m. Sunday. Police say Patti made an obscene gesture to two officers in the car, popped a wheelie and then sped away.

Police gave chase.

When the motorcycle turned into a parking lot it crashed into a police car that had joined the chase.

Police said Patti was treated for minor injuries at Southside Hospital. He's charged with fleeing police, resisting arrest and several traffic violations.

He was being held for arraignment Monday. Police did not know if he had an attorney.

Here another goodie:
A Somonauk man was charged with driving under the influence after a motorcycle accident Saturday near Sandwich that left him hospitalized in serious condition.

Flaget was charged with driving under the influence and failure to reduce speed to avoid an accident. The crash is being investigated by the DeKalb County Sheriff's Office and Sandwich police.

So how many people did he kill? You want to talk about biased your generalizing the biker community off of what you read in a newspaper and have actual facts to basis anything off of. Thats passed bias and striaght to blind ignorace..
