Also just FYI although riding side by side is not recomended by the AMA( American Motorcycle Assoc) 2 bikes can legally share a lane. Preferd is a staggered formation. When I ride with my club I am whats called a road captin. We plan the routes and maintain the formations. The lead rider and the first to their right as well as the safety ( middle Captin) and the tail gunners have communictors that cbs with thumb button you put on your left grip. We are in constant communication when needed. The lead will call to the tail to secure lets say the middle lane. The tails then at the comofort change into the middle and adivise when the lane is clear. The from front to back the formation moves safely into that lane.
Like I said in previous posts over the summer 18 of us road from Long Island to NC barely touching a highway. I covered 2475 miles in 9 days with 3 days being off the saddle(bike seat).
Not one of us had a problem not one of us had a close call because when we ride we are ontop of everything around us so there is no suprise. Your mind still gets to clear, you still get to take in the fresh air and you safely experience the country in a way only one who has ridden can truely understand.
Fresh air until you get behind one of those chicken trucks! I did that ride 2 years ago. Its a nice ride. What is that, Route 1 that runs down that way? If so, rode that for a while, also jumped over to the Chesapeake Bay Bridge, hit some of those back woods eating joints. Good times!

[QUOTE who **** The problem is that all the signs on all the roadways on Long Island are is this foreign language called English. Most of the people involved in the accidents that you read about don't even know the rules of the road because they can't read the signs. They should add signs in Spanish to the bottom of all these signs so that people like Jose, Pablo, Juan, etc. actually know what they are supposed to be doing. Best wishes to the biker! Get well brother![/QUOTE]

Thanks for telling it like it is. America, rest in peace. The polioticians have given this country away, all in the nasme of greed.

I agree about the jerks between the cars. As far a riding Two abreast, it's legal In NY and you also get to look out for one another and give a heads up.

Thanks for reminding me about those. I would never toss one over my shoulder at the tailgating idiot though.
Anyway, I'm off to the local garage to collect some wheel balancing weights.
I don't ride anymore due to idiots on the road, but marbles were my favorite,100 marbles for a few bucks.

While I don't agree with the guy who wants to open the door & hit somebody, I'd have to say that if that was to happen, the bike would stop short but the rider would keep going, causing some serious injury when the rider finally did come to a stop. So I don't think that rider would be in any condition to kick anybody's butt in at that point. Besides, you're a Harley rider. Harley guys don't do stupid stuff like that. Only those crotch-rocket riding losers do that kind of stuff. You know the ones I'm talking about. They have a bullet on two wheels underneath them to compensate for their tiny manhoods. Every Harley rider I've ever seen was pretty much respectful of those around him on the road.

I happened to stumble upon this post while attempting to research the accident my uncle, stephen johnson (the motorcyclist) was in. He has two days at most to live. His skull has been crushed, and he has lost half of his blood. He did not break a single law in the incident. It's not just a "stupid accident"- and motorcyclists are permitted to ride in the HOV lane. I suggest that if you have anything negative to say, you should politely keep it to yourself
You spell his name "Stephen." But, according to the article, his name is spelled "Steven." Is he really your uncle? Hmmmmm. One would think you would know how to spell your uncle's name. Watson, what do you think?

No, but I have some friends who have. It's pretty popular down south. The furthest I've ever been with the bike is Myrtle Beach, which was a blast
