I was in Istanbul last summer and these folks are paying over 8 bucks a gallon..Last year I'm at a Carvel in Kings Park and one of those infantry hummers pulls next to me and out gets a soccer mom and her two kids..And I turn to my wife and remark that the lady must think that Cookie Puss is armed and dangerous..

DRIVE LESS
Stick it to Ali Babba and "developing" China and DRIVE LESS (as if the Chinese have been living in caves the past 80 years) Your neighbor complains about the price of gas? You tel 'em to "DRIVE LESS!" Your boss tells you you're not Penski material? You tell 'em "DRIVE LESS!" DRIVE LESS It's our new motto, fellow Americans. |

I'm just old enough to remember the second oil crisis in the late 70s. It amazies me that we as a nation didn't learn a darn thing. Once Kuwait broke ranks with OPEC and gas prices started to drop in the 80s, we stopped being concerned with mileage and forgot all the reports of dwindling supplies of oil. Now 20 years later, we are paying the price, at the pump, on the world stage and envirnomentally. We deserve this mess. Our society could have done something 30 years ago and been leaders in new transportation technology. The Arab world learned and although oil is still their biggest product, they own real estate and other businesses across the globe so when their oil does run out, they will still stay rich. Why we Americans think we are the greatest people in the world is beyond me. 30 years and still the same problem, without any clue how to solve the problem and too many people denying the problem exists.

Boy have you got it right! I used to live in England - people used public transportation - they need to improve public transportation here on the Island and people should get with the program and car pool and quit driving those pointless SUVs and hoity toity cars - who cares what you're driving away? It only matters when you're paying extra $ for gas! OPEC can stick it where the aun don't shine - United Emirates = total greed! |

Make Iraq the 51st State and pump the oil and gas back to the USA.
Stop ALL Foreign AID and spend the money in the USA. The Liberal George Bush MUST Go |
|
and what if your job requires you to drive to work? yeah Europeans pay a lot more for gas than we do, but their public transportation systems are also 100 times better. the problem here is that long island lacks a decent public transportation system for people who live and work on the island. where i live there is absolutely no way to even get to a train w/o driving your own vehicle. |

Hey Jayk No response Sill Waiting for your RESPONSE |

Why??? Because Big Oil invested in the processes and machinery necessary to provide gas at a reasonable price. You think ExxonMobil is making their shareholders rich? No, look at their shareprice YTD. The profits are used to search for more Texas Tea (or Alaskan). This is the equivalent of Research and Development at Big Pharma. Should Pfizer have a cap on profits, too? Etc. |

Track the progress of the dollar decline verses the rise in oil!
Can not ignore the fact that the dollar began to depreciate soon before W 'cheated' in the first election... Basically, OPEC is slapping us in the face for bringing the bush cartel back into power of fostering alternative fuel projects... who knows what they will do if McCain (Bush 2.5) wins the election... |

Hell no! Donald Duck instead |

The people from Bide-a-we Rest Home in Montauk are out looking 4 him NOW! |

If higher gas prices is the price we civilians have to pay for the war on terror, then so be it. The only sacrifice this country has seen in Iraq and Afghanistan is from the families of the men and women serving over there. Many of us say we support the troops and some even claim to support the war, but no has had to make any real sacrifices like this country made with rationing during WWI and WWII. If a few extra bucks is what is keeping us safe against Al Queada, then so be it.
If more of us sacrificed more, maybe there wouldn't be an increase in prices. Complain and complain while the only "support" you've shown so far was putting a magnet on the back of your SUV. |
