Fuel hike has some fuming

For Doug Halby, $3 was $3 too much. When his lawn sprinkler company tried to charge him extra for a service call - above his contracted fixed price for system maintenance - he refused to pay and dropped the ...

Oil companies made historical profits, so that means the price of gas and heatin oil do NOT have to be that high. Does anyone notice how the unduly elected gorilla in the White House is calling for drilling in Alaska? His buddies are strangle-holding the American consumer so we'll have no choice but to vote for exploring for oil in Alaska. Why don't his friends just stop looting our pocketbooks, take smaller profits, and leave the damn economy alone?

To Automatic Sprinkler, if route work is planned right there really is no reason to add a service fee. Most of the time with my route experience (service business also), you normally pass the same intersection, building, etc., almost on a daily business due to contract customers as well as first time customers or even estimate customers. So there really is no reason to charge....most of the time we are overlapping daily.

The liberals have blocked drilling off the East and West coasts, the Gulf of Mexico as well as ANWR. Ethanol another scam that adds to the cost of gasoline and food. We are forced to buy crude oil from the Middle East.

The liberals have prevented oil companies from drilling of the East coast, West coast, Gulf of Mexico as well as in ANWR. They have also been behind forcing ethanol use which drives up the cost of gasoline as well as food. We need to begin an aggressive oil and natural gas drilling program now! End the use of ethanol as an additive.

Ya know - you all deserve what is happening now - you voted for Bush twice (once, I can almost understand, but twice is shocking to me)

So, stay in bed with beady-eyed Bush and his kill-Arabs methodolgy - and watch as you eat less food, drive less, have less leisure, get laid-off and lose your homes

What is your point? I do not have to buy gasoline if I don't mind mass transit.
My point is don't complain about profits in $$$$. The question is are they making obscene profits and the answer is no. Just a decent rate of return. And by the way no one seemed to care when these energy stocks were in the dumpster due to low price of oil. Everyone just got giddy and bought energy hog cars and suvs, and now the bill is coming due. The age of cheap gas is gone, buy a bicycle.

Mr. Rosenthal: The "computer did it"? Sell me a bridge? Humans tell computers what to do. You tried and got caught. Keep that non-sense up and you soon will not have a any business at all. I am glad I saw this article. I would never use your company. I would have grave concerns as to your honesty.

Tried using any electric appliance or heating your home without being a direct or indirect consumer of oil? Even your mass transit runs on -- oh, right, oil.

Get a clue, skippy, willya?

No you get a clue. What is your point? The Government should control oil prices? We live a capitalist society plain and simple. Companies are in business to make a profit and that is what the oil companies are doing. My point SKIPPY is that their profits are reasonable, when compared to other companies. Now buy the bike I told you about because oil is not getting cheaper.

I'm no Big Oil fan but 42% of their profits went right out the window in taxes. Somebody's got to pay for the war and the cradle-to-grave government coddling that the people seem to want.
