Wow, get your facts right, Abreu does not have a 16million option, that was last year, horrible journalism!!!!!

Congrats Moose.....great job

I wonder how brilliant Cashman and Little Big Boss would have looked with the 12+ games Santana would have won for them in return for Hughes and Cabrera? I guess that the Yankee credo of "we must win every year" did not apply to '08.
Great year Moose. You would already have your twenty if not for the bullpen blowing two of your games in the last month. |
|
he also won a few games when he didnt pitch well, the offense bailed him out... it all balances out in the end |

Maybe the Yanks should consider keeping Abreu next year. Not many guys out there with close to 100 rbi and a good on base pct.

i say bring him back. i said it last yr too. Wang, Moose, 3 more. out of all free agents commin up the yanks will prob add at least 2. not sure birng pettite back, i wouldnt for the $, he pitched lousy this yr. although who knows, i not sure CC is as dominant as he's hyped to be. Ben Sheets is injury prone at time and AJ Burnett, well what if jays decide to keep Burnett and with Halliday add 1 more of these free agents and then they're in the mix atop the Al East also.
Moose may be more vital piece of puzzle than ya think... |
|
Your forgeting the 7 or 8 games Santana left with the lead and his bullpen blew or he might have 20 wins plus with the Yanks bullpen saving his games compared to the met bullpen he probably would have even more wins then 20 with the Yanks 1 |

I disagree, this is not a "winning" type player in my opinion. The 100 RBI's are deceiving; he smacks 2 HR's last night now that they're out of it....where was he in the clutch all season? I can't think of one time he changed the game with his glove or bat in 2008. |
I would sign him.... he is very durable as well... the guy plays 150+ games every year |

True, but he'll be 35 next season...watch the decline come if you sign him. Need to get younger, faster, aggressive. I wish they could pry that McLouth kid from Pittsburgh and put him in center or RF.

Bring back Moose and Abreu, and sign a free agent pitcher like Sabathia. Their bullpen is solid, but they need a first baseman, and also need to make some decisions in the outfield as well.

This is true, get rid of abreau. |
|
I wish, wish we could get him... Why would they trade him though? |

Because they are the Pittsburgh Pirates and one of the worst run organizations in professional sports! It's just a wish, can't say it would ever happen.
And as for Sabbathia, I'm 90% sure he DOES NOT want to play here in NY. Watch the Angles land him like everything else they've gotten. Moose I would bring back; I think Andy is done (on both accounts of ability and his desire to come back). |
hahaha..agreed on all points. |

Spot on my friend. Lets face it there are Yankees and guys who wear the Yankee uniform. We need younger guys (26-32) who are hungry, have personal pride and take pride in the uniform they wear. Bobby is not one of them. Abreu must go along with Andy and Jason. Andy was a long-time winner, but he is now shot and undependable. Moose is a 4 or 5 next year, nothing more. Cano and Kennedy are not roster material for next year's team. And, oh, by-the-way neither is Mr. lack of Strategic Plan himself Brian Cashman. You and Andy can talk about it at the Airport on your way out of town |

1 A savvy, excellent pitcher who knows how to adjust to the times.(Losing your smoke? Perfect your offspeed stuff.) Educated (economics degree from Stamford), well mannered, a strong competitor and one of the finest pitchers the AL has seen this generation. Mike Mussina is a true example of a gentleman. I think he's great. |

1 1st base should be covered already. they should have their checkbook open to write Texieria whatever he wants. far as pitching...that will be the toughy, a few good ones are hitting the market and history shows everybody wants to play for Yanks at some point but who else will be bidding...i said earlier. maybe Toronta keeps Burnett AND goes aftr Sabathia. then Red Sox and Yanks are in trouble. CC, Burnett, and Halliday...? |
|
yeah CC wants to stay on West coast. dont think he wants to come to NY. and if they pry him here w/enuf $ he wont be happy and have his heart in it and the play will suffer. |
